This is a place for lovely pear shapes to share purchases and discuss clothes that fit and flatter our beautiful bodies. Smile

I am an extreme pear as well - also still get the little gap with bold curve. I find Hobbs jeans fit me well (though are too long - I have to wear with big heels) and you can get them v good condition 2nd hand on ebay for not very much

plasticbanana · 16/05/2014 15:22

Hey Hermione that's interesting about the Hobbs jeans. I would never have thought to look there for jeans. Do you know which model you wear, or are all of them good for us?

OP posts:
HermioneWeasley · 16/05/2014 21:43

Not sure what specific style they are - just been listed as Hobbs jeans.

CoconutAmericano · 16/05/2014 22:06

What is hobbs sizing like? Im between a 12 and a 14 on the bottom

TheMightyMing · 16/05/2014 22:15

Quite like that warehouse skirt , I tried on similar in Whistles but I think this one could work better and is half the price :)

HermioneWeasley · 17/05/2014 14:07

It's on the generous side. I take a 14 in Hobbs and m&S and jaeger if that helps.

Justinepants · 17/05/2014 21:20

Evening, lovely pears. Can I join you?
I was interested to hear about the Boden Chelsea turn ups, Bacon as I'd vaguely earmarked them for next time I needed trousers. I don't wear them often either, Flo. Some of my most miserable times have been trying on trousers or swimsuits.

I wondered if anyone had a good recommendation for boyfriend jeans. I just discovered Kew ones in their closing down sale and now I can't find any that fit my thighs and are anywhere near small enough for my waist.

Lovelybunchofcocopops · 18/05/2014 16:31

I would be really interested in my fellow pear's views on Levi curve id jeans? Any views ladies? They are quite expensive, so how well do they fit, do you think they are worth the money?

Rosebag · 18/05/2014 17:04

Justinepants, I think I'm too booby to be a real pear but re boyfriend jeans....I have just bought a pair from jigsaw whom I believe was the same company as Kew? I loved Kew for jeans. They made my thighs easier to live with. I also have a pair of Next slim boyfriend jeans which I bought online from the directory. They are my most comfortable jeans ever. I liked them soon much I went in store to get another pair in a different wash and none of them fits. I now have to conclude that the 14 I got online must have had the wrong label sewn in. :-(

HermioneWeasley · 18/05/2014 17:30

LovelyBunch - I rate the Levi's curve range. I have "bold curve" (the most pear shaped they do) and I still need a belt, but it's better than most ranges. I have their skinny boot cut and buy them when I'm in the States as I agree they are v pricey otherwise.

TulipOHare · 18/05/2014 17:50

After ignoring this thread for a week because I thought it was about cooking Blush I have now opened it out of curiosity and found it is my spiritual home Grin

Uber pear shaped and currently starting my annual baffled / frustrated search for warm-weather clothing.

I hate my legs so can't wear dresses / skirts unless maxi; but trousers generally look crap on me. Tis a problem! Roll on autumn, I know what I'm doing then.

Re the previous comment about Ebay and jeans - get on there! I buy all my many jeans on Ebay for peanuts, have done for years. Current favourites are Paige jeans in Hollywood Hills. V expensive new, but all mine were £12-£20 a pair.

Lovelybunchofcocopops · 18/05/2014 18:51

Hermione- thanks for your view. I am not going to the states any time soon, so I will have to pay uk prices, although I might look at EBay.

evelynj · 18/05/2014 20:56

Help! I'm going on hols in 2 weeks for 2 weeks & have only 3 dresses that could pass as currently size 18 & my old dresses don't fit.

Has anyone seen any cheap swing or maxi dresses or others that suit pears? The matalan one has disappeared off the website, grrr! Anything but black, blue or pink would be good & below knee......

WildThong · 18/05/2014 23:03

Definitely have a look on TKMaxx online, they have loads of dresses inc maxi dresses and maxi skirts.

Oh sorry, just realised you don't want blue.

evelynj · 19/05/2014 17:53

Will check there anyway thanks wild-it's always a gamble!

CardiCorgi · 19/05/2014 21:07

Thanks for the Boden Chelsea trouser tip. Does anyone know if the bistro crops or bistro trousers are any good? I've also considered Banana Republic Sloane trousers (inspired by the workwear thread). All experiences gratefully received.

evelynj · 19/05/2014 21:20

I bought some autograph trousers in a charity shop last week & I think they suit me, (could be wrong!) particularly with heels but I don't think they 'should' suit a pear.

They're a bit like these but with subtle wide turnups. What do we think?

evelynj · 19/05/2014 21:24

Just Checked the bistro ones & they're quite similar! Maybe try those ones in m&s? They have good reviews & the ones I have are a lovely fabric

Justinepants · 19/05/2014 21:35

Thanks for the boyfriend jeans suggestions Rosebag. I looked in Jigsaw because of the Kew connection but they only had straights and they looked a bit straight Confused. I might try some on anyway. I might also have a look in a Next and see if I can find a flukey pair like yours.

Sounds like I should also check out Levi curves. I thought people had said they weren't so curvy but I guess you don't know until you try.

I'm pondering a pair I've just collected from Tesco. They're not a bad fit, a bit gapey, but really nice soft, not too heavy fabric.

Actually, I've just remembered that BHS of all places used to do quite well fitting jeans. I wonder if it's worth popping in there. I got my most favourite ever pair of suede platform ankle boots in there but that was a lifetime ago and a whole different story ...

Justinepants · 19/05/2014 21:42

evelynj have you tried Peacocks for summer dresses? I've had a couple of bargains from there and they're sometimes cotton which is always a bonus.

Those trousers would look dreadful on me but I'm very happy to think they'd look good on someone else. Go for it if you like them.

Rosebag · 20/05/2014 07:00

Justine the Jigsaw ones are called Hampton slim boyfriend. I can see them on line although I bought mine in store. I went down a size for these…maybe makes up for the fact that my Next ones are one size bigger than I thought!!

evelynj · 20/05/2014 21:32

Thanks Justine-I did an order from peacocks last night!

I don't know what suits for trousers but fed up of bootleg & wide leg so maybe it's just wishful thinking!

I think bigger jeans that fit well on the hips & you like are best to be taken to a dressmaker to make perfect.

I'm big boobed as well but find tops are usually gapey round armpits & need adjusted for a good fit

Justinepants · 21/05/2014 21:40

Excellent. Glad to have helped evelynj. I know what you mean about a dressmaker. It would be great to find a good one. I can do most things but can't generally be bothered. I'm short waisted so lots of things would look better if I got round to taking the shoulders up.

Rosebag - I'll pop into Jigsaw and have a look at those jeans next time I manage to take a lunch break. Thanks.
