So cheat, I bought 3x belly bands in different colours which means I can wear my own clothes and they only cost £15

Let me get this straight - you just put a belly band over the top of your jeans - no matter if button nor zip are done up?? If that is so sounds like a much better idea. How low can they go? And where do you get coloured ones from??

The elastic options simply fall down
My waist (previous to pregnancy) is only 1 inch smaller than my hips. So the minute the button undoes, my jeans fall down. I am not sure even a belly band would keep them up.
A normal belt cuts, elastic panels (bleurgh) do ont work as the weight of the denim pulls down the panel (sigh)
Internal adjustables would be fine BUT why do they think that because you are pregnat the size of your arse also increase a size?
I live in jeans and really get cross, I have heard people rave about seraphine jeans and am pinning all my hopes on those...

have you tried Formes? Most of the current collection is pants but to my recollection their cut is quite slim on the hips (I have to buy their version of a 16 when I normally buy 14).

I lived in normal sized jersey wrap and shift dresses, skirts with elasticated waists and maternity tights or hold ups with my pregnancies.
Topshop are good for long length tops too, which stretch to cover your bump.
All in all, I think maternity wear is a bit of a con, and usualy fairly ugly.

there are pictures of Kate Moss like that when she was pg. There was one picture where she'd undone the button of her jeans but the zip had slipped down and her top wasn't quite long enough to hide it.
Bet she really hated the fashion hiatus.

Good sources of non maternity, maternity wear

American Apparel (Vest tops are longer than standard)
Patagonia (good climbing bottoms, longer t-shirts. I think their stuff is available from Snow and Rock in the UK)
Sweaty Betty (good quality yoga bottoms)

Harry Duley link design clothes that are supposed to be worn both as maternity and non-maternity wear.

Indian style long shirt tops (pregnancy brain can't remember what they are actually called), are also really good.

On pregnancy number 2 (33 wks) and have never bought a single item of maternity wear. (Too mean with money to buy something that will only wear for a few months).

Reasonably priced, comfortable and oh-so-stylish. They only recently started coming out with a maternity collection. But because of their clothes, I have all but abandoned the ones I wore for dd's pregnancy 3 years ago and just live in TS outfits - I get stopped on the street. Same goes for my SIL.
