Black tights with sandals?

I think I know the answer to this - but basically - I can't wear black tights and chunky black sandals with a dress can I? Can I? I'm having a nightmare finding something to wear to posh do this weekend- had a relatively summery outfit to wear but weather is meant to be cold and rainy so need tights me thinks (also to cover up awful legs), but don't have any shoes now! Arghhhhh! Please help!

How about sheer nude tights?

tigerdriverII · 06/05/2014 21:41

What about long black boots. Sandals and tights will look awful, sorry.

SuzanneSays · 06/05/2014 21:47

I have never found a pair of sheer nude tights that don't look a bit ashy or American tan MsAsprey- any recommendations? I don't have any black boots Tiger - in fact- I have come to the conclusion I have NO CLOTHES and NO SHOES (I am six months pregnant so think this may have something to do with it!!!).

Black ballet pumps would be best.

Or black leggings under dress to keep your legs wRm.

But hey, posh do's and six month pregnant bumps are not easy so west what you want!

Footless tights?

(Actually, I'm probably the only one to think it is ok to wear black tights under sandals so long as the shops are chunky and the tights not to sheer.)

peasandlove · 07/05/2014 06:14

Not unless you're SJP

Nude. Not footless black tights. Not chic.

BitOutOfPractice · 07/05/2014 06:53

No type of tights with sandals. Ever. Definitely not chic.

JeanSeberg · 07/05/2014 06:58

These really are nude

I was going to say M&S for nude nights. Not American tan at all.

Leggings and flat ballet pumps as long as your dress isn't too formal? No on the tight/sandal mix even nude ones.

EduardoBarcelona · 07/05/2014 07:07

I like the oiled

Koothrapanties · 07/05/2014 07:41

No never, unless you are 80.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 07/05/2014 07:44

I've done it with sheer toe black tights. I think it will look smarter than black leggings.

noddyholder · 07/05/2014 07:55

I love footless fine silky ones but only with lovely shoes /dress Normal tights ok if you are alexa Chung style otherwise very sheer Not leggings What about fishnets?

BitOutOfPractice · 07/05/2014 08:15

NO TIGHTS OF ANY DESCRIPTION WITH SANDALS.

Can you tell I feel very strongly about this? Personally I would rather freeze to death than wear tights and sandals. It's a complete no no. Really. Trust me.

There are toe less ones

PearlyGrey · 07/05/2014 08:53

Black tights and black (or a colour that matches your dress) ballet shoes/flats. Are you near any supermarkets? You don't need to spend much, Sainsbury's have these for a tenner. If it helps I've also recently worn my 'Summer Wedding Outfit' to a wedding where it was grey and drizzly, I wore it with black tights, gold shoes and a sequinned cardigan and nothing bad happened!

burnishedsilver · 07/05/2014 08:57

No tights with sandals. Ever.

Either grin and bear the cold or pick up a pair of ballet flats.

sandals look wrong in cold weather anyway and your feet would get wet.

SuzanneSays · 07/05/2014 09:15

Thanks guys, think the general consensus is avoid the sandals then! Will try to find time to nip to shops for a pair of ballet pumps (my old ones look like a dead rodent)!

Don't wear any kind of tights with sandals.
Either wear the sandals and get some Sally Hansen for your legs.
Or wear tights and a closed toe shoe

EasterSundaySimmons · 07/05/2014 09:22

I love black tights with coloured sandals.

This lovely young lady for example
