What is your holy grail mascara?

S&B gurus, I need your help!

I'm in the market for a new mascara. I am fortunate to have long, thick, curly lashes so not needing a miracle product to emphasise any of those features (not stealth boasting, promise!) My issue is that any mascara I have tried ends up bleeding below my bottom lashes, so much so that I've stopped wearing mascara on my bottom lashes because I don't want to resemble a panda.

Any recommendations? Have heard good things about the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara, anyone tried it?

Yes that Clinique one is perfect and will solve the problem, only comes off with hot water does not move however much you cry, sweat etc

katmat3 · 27/04/2014 11:12

GOSH mascara.I am using this product for more than 10 yrs....

TheMD · 27/04/2014 11:18

Estee Lauder Double Wear does.not.budge.

It would be perfect for you because it doesn't necessarily lengthen or volumise a huge amount.

Neena28 · 27/04/2014 11:24

All but blinc and the clinique bottom lash move on me and I've tried them all. Use clinique lash feathering on top and bottom lash on bottom as holy grail combo. Buy on a gift with purchase to lessen the blow!

YSL Effet Faux Cils. Not the Baby Doll one, the original. There is nothing like it; it is utterly transformative even without curling or lash primer. I love it.

If they could come up with a way of making it last longer it has a tendency to dry out and go clumpy in the tube more quickly than other brands (both high and low end) that I've tried it would be perfect.

wrapsuperstar · 27/04/2014 11:29

Should add that it doesn't budge in my experience as that was one of your main criteria! Wink Because the formula is thick it can be a job to fully remove though, depends on what your cleansing routine is.

As neena says Blinc is pretty budge free but is quite a subtle effect, might be ok if you have lovely lashes already. It's the product I wear when I take DD for her swimming lessons

SomethingAboutNothing · 27/04/2014 11:29

No. 7 do a mascara that only comes off with hot water, and is really good. I used to use the Clinique equivalent but no. 7 is far cheaper and works just as well.

RubyReins · 27/04/2014 11:33

The EL Double Wear is a great tubing mascara and just doesn't shift until you wash it off with warm water. Taking a break from it right now as I got the Bobbi Brown Smokey Mascara as a present. It's really good too. The Clinique bottom lash mascara sounds great - may invest!

Follyfoot · 27/04/2014 11:34

Mmm I use the Boots one too. It doesnt smudge at all.

Neena28 · 27/04/2014 12:01

El double wear kind of flaked on me. Not a smudge more like little bits of it on lower lash line.

Megbeth · 27/04/2014 12:09

I am a smudger with mascaras. Cliniwur bottom lash smudged on me & their lash power. The only thing with tubing mascaras is that you can't use eye makeup remover you have to wash & rub the lashes which I don't like. I use eye makeup remover & a cleanser & toner as I don't line to wash off my makeup.
I tried Natio Lash Definition today & I am impressed. I'm not sure if you can get it in the UK as I am in another country.
I have heard Christian Dior Iconuc Curl (not overcurl) is good. I am going to try that next.

KosherBacon · 27/04/2014 12:19

I love Loreal double extend beauty tubes in the red and white tube. It's another tubing one like the clinique and blinc ones, but I think this gives bigger fatter lashes.

MsBumble · 27/04/2014 12:29

Rimmel Superlash. I've tried many, and this is probably the most reliable and inexpensive.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/04/2014 12:30

I wear Lash Adapt by No7 then they discontinued it and remarked it was the new red sparkly tubed one that is on offer atm in Boots for a tenner.

BearPear · 27/04/2014 12:37

another vote for the No7, can't recall the name but it comes in a gold case and it's about 12-13 £. it doesn't smudge or bleed and washed off with warm water. I have accidentally stuck the brush in my eye a few times and it hasn't moved despite my tears!

TheBabyFacedAssassin · 27/04/2014 12:37

Ooooh lots of responses Grin

Funny I have looked at and pondered over that Blinc one some of you have mentioned as well.

Currently my cleansing routine at night is to use a Clarins milky lotion cleanser which seems to remove any mascara and eye liner I currently wear then the superdrug hot cloth cleanser. Would I need to invest in a separate eye makeup specific cleanser for any of these longer lasting mascaras? I have used a Dior one before and looooved it, though it was part of a gift package type thing so didn't last very long. Any recommendations for that too?

Ooooh Bear have done that myself more times than I care to admit???pretty solid test for lasting power though!

Micellar water removes mascara better than anything I have ever tried before in my 43 years!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 27/04/2014 12:45

funny but I have tried all sorts of mascaras, cheap and expensive but I keep coming back to a maybelline one in a big fat pink tube. works wonders on me.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/04/2014 13:00

Lancome Definicils when I'm feeling flush. Max factor 2000 when feeling poorer. Tbh there's not a great deal of difference between them.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/04/2014 16:23

Anyone tried the No7 in the red sparkly tube?
Any good?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/04/2014 16:48

Yes, read my earlier post. Been wearing it for years.

phoneyjoanie · 27/04/2014 20:26

I have been looking for a replacement for my (now discontinued) Max Factor Lash Extension mascara and wanted to experiment before returning to Masterpiece as a safe bet.
Try looking at the "100 mascaras on one eye" feature from Cosmo....it's what I've always wanted to actually see. Bobbi Brown no.19 is looking like my fave...natural and defined......think that shows how old I am as I can't stand anything fake looking.

tigerdriverII · 27/04/2014 20:30

Another vote for the Boots one. It's the only mascara I've found that doesn't smudge and it does come off easily, although a bit odd, sort of peels off in strips

WitchWay · 27/04/2014 21:57

I like Blinc, agree quite subtle but can be built up with several layers before it sets. Like the OP, I have long lashes to start with.

haven't tried the Boots one - might have a look
