What is your holy grail mascara?

S&B gurus, I need your help!

I'm in the market for a new mascara. I am fortunate to have long, thick, curly lashes so not needing a miracle product to emphasise any of those features (not stealth boasting, promise!) My issue is that any mascara I have tried ends up bleeding below my bottom lashes, so much so that I've stopped wearing mascara on my bottom lashes because I don't want to resemble a panda.

Any recommendations? Have heard good things about the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara, anyone tried it?

If you wear contacts and can't be doing with all the tubey shit in your eyes.
Lancome Hypnose. DO. NOT. EVEN. BOTHER. TRYING. ANYTHING. ELSE. Is good.

KosherBacon · 28/04/2014 06:11

As a long time contact lens wearer I can say that I have never had any tubey shit in my eyes from any of the tubing mascaras. On the other hand I have had panda smudge eyes from hypnose. Goes to show everybody is different.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 28/04/2014 07:05

I was hugely underwhelmed by hypnose.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 28/04/2014 07:14

What's a tubing mascara? I too am looking for something new because the last two I have liked have been discontinued (Lash Extension and a No 7 one in a bright pink metallic tube). Will look at the Cosmo thing.

Legologgo · 28/04/2014 07:15

baby doll is shit - dont bother
diorhow is way better

Legologgo · 28/04/2014 07:15

oh the bottom lash one IS good, but its tiny , you could only use it for bottom lashes

IDismyname · 28/04/2014 07:21

Just a thought - why not get your eyelashes dyed?

Legologgo · 28/04/2014 07:26

its not colour its length

Reading makeupalley their best recommendation ( after a few brands i had never heard of) is thiswww.boots.com/en/Maybelline-Illegal-Lengths-Mascara-Waterproof-Black_1416725/

Neena28 · 28/04/2014 08:30

The volume million one is ace on top lashes I would agree. They did some matched to eye colour too. The Green eyes one was very good. I couldn't use it on bottom lashes tho looked like a panda by 11 am!

MarshaBrady · 28/04/2014 08:40

Lancôme Hypnose, I have run out, must get some more.

lurkingaround · 28/04/2014 10:11

I like Babydoll. I used to think cheap or expensive made no difference in mascaras but Babydoll works for my fair, v fine lashes. Other than that I think they're all the same.

TheBabyFacedAssassin · 28/04/2014 10:38

Thank you all for your suggestions! So many to think about now!

And I got an unexpected phone call this morning to say I had won £25 through a charity competition in work so don't feel so guilty about splurging Grin

Lego have had them tinted before and wasn't that impressed! I found I was still putting mascara on anyway. Also, I don't feel 'done' until I have a couple of coats on!

I have billions of the fuckers I don't use.
My favourite one is maxfactor false lash effect waterproof.

Legologgo · 28/04/2014 14:07

i wasnt suggesting tinting

OneLittleLady · 28/04/2014 14:09

I like benefit BadGal in black and Rimmel Retro Scandeleyes in black. Both give me lots of volume, I don't need length really as I have lashes long enough to touch my glasses lenses without mascara on!

jenwa · 28/04/2014 14:24

Ive just got the dream weave one. It's fab. Coats them in silicone and you have to wash off with cleanser as water won't budge it! You have to out it on fairly quick before it sets.
Tried the No7 gold one which is similar in getting off...I thought my eyelashes had fallen off as it flakes in the sink in clumps! Didn't like it though as not easy to put on as didn't give length or volume or anything but maybe ok for you but def no good for applying a few layers whereas the dream weave will let you out a few layers on before it starts to set.
I had been looking for a new mascara for ages too. I will read back on all the other suggestions for future reference but currently love my new one.
Also a helpful hint someone told me for when mascara drys out is to stand it in a glass of very hot water for a few minutes. It loosens it up and makes it moist again until you get time to get a new one Wink

Whoops sorry lego! That comment should have been to cocoa!

I like hypnose too. Original one though, don't like doll eyes it flakes.

Twinklestein · 28/04/2014 17:46

Dior Diorshow and Exstase and Lancome Hypnose. I've tried every mascara under the sun, and those are my favs.

alltoomuchrightnow · 28/04/2014 20:28

Clinique lash power. Blinc doesn't stay put on me and the tubes come off all over my face
anything else smudges on me apart from Kanebo and i've pretty much tried them all

nyldn · 28/04/2014 22:10

Maybelline great lash BIG - the fat brush seems to only be available in the US and it's amazing.

MmeMorrible · 28/04/2014 22:19

Another vote for Blinc, it's the only one that doesn't leave me with red, itching eyes at the end of a long day. You do need to get used to it though as it's different to apply and take off than ordinary mascara. The original version is quite a subtle effect but perfect for day wear. I'm a few days into trying out Blinc Amplified which is is a bit more defined.
