Sundress instead of shorts, it's my future

After years of persevering with shorts and tshirts I had an epiphany. They just don't suit my fat shape!
I have ordered a couple from tkmaxx online (look lovely fingers crossed), but any other recommendations very welcome.

Asos is great with some lovely, not too expensive ones, But they're also great quality Smile

mirpuppet · 18/04/2014 19:08

Link the ones you ordered please?

My sister told me long ago that dresses were better than shorts so I have been avoiding shorts for years.

JokersGiggle · 18/04/2014 21:08

I'll link when I can b, on my phone as computer decided to crash.
But basically they're all lovely. They have very flattering cuts and lines (even the £20 ones)

frankietwospots · 18/04/2014 22:12

Just been looking at the Mango website - some lovely dresses there.

imnottoofussed · 18/04/2014 22:14

I think the only problems with sun dresses are if you get sweaty thighs that rub. I might give them a go as looking at last years holiday pics I'm a bit Blush

PrincessOfChina · 18/04/2014 22:16

My solution to sweaty thigh rub is roll on deoderant on the offending area. Works a treat IMO.

MrsPear · 18/04/2014 22:17

Oh yes dresses are way better idea if you are like me and pear shaped and carry all your fat on thighs and bum. I like to get the ones that are fitted top and then flare out and skim. However they seem to be getting very short. Anyone see any that hit the knee?!

bodiddly · 18/04/2014 22:19

Are there any for those with bingo wings?

whereisshe · 18/04/2014 22:25

Dresses are muuuuuch better than shorts and top. More flattering, less cut-in-half shape, less outfit selection complexity... Cooler too (as long as they're not polyester)...

whereisshe · 18/04/2014 22:26

Modcloth have lovely ones...

kazzawazzawoo · 18/04/2014 22:53

Watching with interest. I much prefer sun dresses, I look terrible in shorts.

WildThong · 19/04/2014 00:07

Sorry for delay in returning..

This is the four I ordered, all different shapes so I can see what suits. (No maxis as I am short)

Goddam pressed too soon...
The first 3 are cotton and the last one is silk

What's the postage like on Modcloth Whereisshe ? I've always been put off by them being in America.

squoosh · 19/04/2014 04:38

God yes, dresses are SO much easier to wear than shorts. I learnt this aged 13.

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/04/2014 06:30

I still quite like shorts but they have to be the right shape and I size up. They're very good when you have small children and are bending down a lot.

I really want some nice cotton dresses for the summer but am finding it hard to find any that suit a short person with no waist.

mirpuppet · 19/04/2014 07:19

WildThong nice dresses. Let us know how you get on once they arrive.

50ShadesOfSummer · 19/04/2014 08:12

I'm a big fan of shorts - for reasons MrsCampbell mentions. You will never flash your knickers in shorts! But I think it depends on your figure. I've been told I suit shorts, but find getting the right dress hard.

EyelinerQueen · 19/04/2014 08:18

Coumarin

I used ModCloth a few months ago and paid £25 for postage. When the UPS guy arrived with the parcel I had to pay another £40 in custom charges.

Gorgeous dresses but they're already quite expensive without factoring in £60 on postage Hmm. It put me off using them again.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 19/04/2014 08:27

I will be wearing both and, like MrsCB said, size up on the shorts. I'm hoping I can find some that aren't frighteningly short, too.

IDugUpADiamond · 19/04/2014 08:29

My thighs are my worst feature plus I'm short so I look horrendous in shorts. Problem is, my arms are not great either and I struggle to find casual dresses with a sleeve for the summer.

alwaysonmymind · 19/04/2014 08:32

Could I hijack the thread for a minute?
The PP's who talked about thighs rubbing together need to get Lanacane Anti-chaffing cream. It feels like silk and is great! But it tends to sell out so get some in when it's not as warm!

frankietwospots · 19/04/2014 09:19

These are really nice shorts for anyone who's looking but size down..

Eyeliner See that was what I was afraid of. You could buy another dress with £60. Thanks
