Anyone seen any nice ones?

Gap Ultra Skinny and Mango JAPO - both flattering, stretchy cotton and affordable. Size down, in both, though.

Kbear · 14/04/2014 22:11

and when you've found them.. and I've bought them too... tell me what shoes does a person wear with them please?

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 14/04/2014 22:14

Don't you just wear court shoes or pointed flats?

46direct · 14/04/2014 22:15

Yes! Shoes link please
For me its more summery office related to look smart with broad feet!

46direct · 14/04/2014 22:16

Higher comfortable sandals/ smart shoes please

Kbear · 14/04/2014 22:20

I'm one of those weirdos who can't walk in flats, I need a heel, but not a stiletto, I need a bouncy wedge type thing. I have to walk for 25 mins when I get off the train... and I want to look stylish whilst doing so... so cigarette pants and something comfy....yet chic.....

46direct · 14/04/2014 22:22

Yes! Exactly what I wanted too Kbear!!

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 14/04/2014 22:27

I know its a bit bad to do this, but these are the workwear shoes that I have put on Pinterest. www.pinterest.com/workwearedit/workwear-shoes/. The shoes range between flats and heels that are 9cm. All are leather.

For my money, if you get hot feet in summer, I would think about a d'orsay (cut away at the side), as I find sling backs v uncomfortable. Office are doing a d'orsay for £60, called Darling in black or snakeskin.

If you want a classic comfortable court shoe, the Dune Appoint comes in a range of colours and is £65 (leather and leather lined).

However, I have 174 shoes on this board, so hopefully you find something.

Cucumberscarecrow · 14/04/2014 22:40

Nice work there Belinda. Lovely shoes. I think I prefer flats with cigarette pants. Hobbs ballet flat looks good as does a nice loafer although the latter probably now smart enough for my work.

Thanks for the trousers recommendation. Are they both fairly smart?

Just googled the Gap ones and they are lovely. Look great on the website worn with court shoes so you are spot on Belinda.

Thanks cucumber, to be honest, I think the Mango ones are slightly smarter than the Gap ones, as the Mango ones have a finer woven fabric. However, they are both worth trying, I think.

SorrelForbes · 14/04/2014 22:54

I've got a pair of Boden Chelsea trousers which I wore to work today with a jacket and black courts. I have worn them with black loafers too.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 14/04/2014 22:55

By the way, if you want a matching blazer, then the Mango SHANGHAI2 trousers are cotton sateen and come with the blazer (£70 in total for both). However, I did slightly prefer the cut of the JAPO trousers. Do a search on Mango using the style names - they have about 5000 stock items to navigate through, otherwise.

46direct · 14/04/2014 22:55

Never bought mango
If I am an 8 in next or a 10 in h and m
What size shall I buy?

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 14/04/2014 23:05

I'm a 10 in H&M, and for the Mango JAPO, I needed size 8, for Mango SHANGHAI2 I needed 10 (maybe I could have gone down to 8, not sure - they didn't have them), and for the Gap Ultra Skinny trousers I needed 8 (or size 6 if you want them fairly tight eg for going out).

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 14/04/2014 23:06

Sorrel - I must go check out the Boden workwear.

SorrelForbes · 14/04/2014 23:19

I need to look at the Gap and Mango ones!

The Boden trousers come in a range of colours that you just don't get at Mango and Gap, and the reviews are very good. If you want a similar range elsewhere, you can also get it in the Banana Republic Hampton trousers.

Thanks for the Boden link, and good night - off to bed.

Cucumberscarecrow · 15/04/2014 07:21

Finally found the Mango ones but they seem to be full length. I was hoping for 7/8th length (or slightly shorter as I have short legs). They looked lovely otherwise and the jacket too Sad.

The Boden ones are indeed lovely but have a six week wait for my size.

How about the Banana Republic Hampton ones, in a petite fitting? I just did a post where I tried them on (have also tried the Gap and Mango ones, too).

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/04/2014 07:59

Just had another thought: the Gap slim cropped ones might work, and the Gap ultra skinnies are cropped too. Else, you could get the Mango ones taken ups. Although the SHANGHAI ones have a cuff at the bottom and the JAPO ones have a slit at the bottom. It all depends on your shape and leg length, doesn't it!?

Legologgo · 15/04/2014 08:24

I'm with blinners

jan2014 · 15/04/2014 08:38

i actually got lovely ones from new look. all the other styles didn't sit right, i needed a little longer in the leg, quite slim legs and bigger waist and these are perfect, good price, although i don't know how long they will last.

BeginnerSAHM · 15/04/2014 08:51

I just bought the banana republic sloane trousers in navy but they do them in black too - these. Fitted me much better than the Hampton ones. I'm a (skinny) pear shape though - I know Belinda is a skinny apple! I'm 5'5'' and went for the petite version (size up!) as I wanted a proper 7/8 length. Worked for me anyway Wink.
