Anyone seen any nice ones?

Legologgo · 15/04/2014 08:52

How true to size are they, are they as big as the gap Ones?

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/04/2014 09:14

Oh yes, I'm an apple getting ever more so. Going for a petite cut at BR is a good idea - I find it often fits me better, especially in the tops.

Slightly off topic - if you are in a BR shop, do keep an eye out for any of the Monogram range silk shirts in the sale. I just bought the black version (they did black and ivory). Stretch silk shirt that's opaque. A rare beast. I had to size down to US 2 - their sizing is ridiculously big.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/04/2014 09:15

Btw their current summer shirts are fairly sheer. Annoying.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/04/2014 09:17

Re the Hamptons, I found them a poor fit on me - I couldn't do up the size US 2 in petite, but US 4 in regular were a bit big. Maybe I need US 4 in petite, and have the legs taken in. The fabrics and colours were v good.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/04/2014 09:45

Gorgeous! I just bought a beautiful thick stretch silk shirt
From the Monogram range, in the sale. Would be a fun summer evening to wear it, sleeves rolled up, slightly unbuttoned (channels Simon Cowell) w those shorts and heels!

SinglePringle · 15/04/2014 09:50

I have a similar pair of shorts to those lego. Mine are silk, from Reiss last year and have worn them with black stilettos, black silk shirt (undone and sleeves rolled up Grin!).

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/04/2014 09:58

SinglePringle - you go before me. Simon will be so proud of us. I'm not planning on undoing quite so many buttons as my man, Si, though.

Legologgo · 15/04/2014 09:59

I always like idea of shorts and heels, and could easily wear it, I just feel like a twat

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/04/2014 10:09

No, don't feel like that Lego - it's such a good look IMO. Try it! I'm going to do it - getting older and braver (scary thought).

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/04/2014 10:15

Maybe start w low heels, if unsure?

SinglePringle · 15/04/2014 10:16

Do it Lego! Heels and shorts looks awesome, Belinda is quite right.

Am also older and braver!

M&S do a modern slim in cotton sateen for £25 in good colours. The fastenings don't last forever, but I like them. They also do very nasty polyester ones collection of them all here. I also like their 7/8ths trousers. I bet the ankle grazers on the link are quite good if the material is nice.

LaTrucha · 15/04/2014 10:37

I like some of the sandals on &otherstories but very different from the lovely ladylike ones linked to above.

BeginnerSAHM · 15/04/2014 11:04

Lego - I'm a US 4 (so a UK 8) in the normal sloan trousers and a US 6 (so a UK 10) in petite. Both fit exactly the same round my bottom Shock. Assistant said you have to size 'up' in petite. Not sure why - I thought the proportions should just been smaller (ie shorter legs, arms, torso etc!). I agree - Gap and BR have Serious vanity sizing so I was quite upset at being a '6' (UK 10) as am 'normally' a '2' or '4' (UK 6 or 8) - totally ridiculous as am a UK 10 in more normal sized shops.

(Only just become old and brave enough to wear shorts for the first time last summer since I was about 9... With flip flops though! Can't quite do going out ones with heels... Yet Wink. Am, weirdly, not so worried about that little bit of fat at the top o the knee that's been then since I hit puberty. In fact, maybe it's decreased in size?)

Stokey · 15/04/2014 11:15

LaTrucha it may just be me, but I have just ebayed 2 pairs of & Other Stories shoes that I bought in the sales.

One were chunky black heels that were so heavy I could barely walk and the other were some flat pumps that pinched so badly I went to Clarks in my lunch break and bought some other shoes.

I like the pointy office flats you've linked to Belinda, like some R&B ones I saw recently that were super-pricey and have now sold out. How is the fit on the Office ones?

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/04/2014 11:51

I have a narrow foot, and Office fit me fine. I am 39.5 and size up to 40. I bought some in 39, once, and they just always felt a bit tight.

Stokey · 15/04/2014 12:12

Thanks - will check them out

Cucumberscarecrow · 15/04/2014 12:45

Vanity sizing Grin. What a great expression! I am the same - US 2 in Gap and Size 8 in the real world. Hence, I love Gap.

I will try the petite in a US 4 if I go for these ones. Must read your other thread re the fit. They look lovely with the tan skinny belt too in the picture.

Just bought some yellow suede ballet pumps from Hobbs in anticipation of my new summer work wardrobe!

Legologgo · 15/04/2014 12:58

oh petite Schmetite

Legologgo · 15/04/2014 12:58

i LOVE the look. I have the legs
I just fail on The Nerve

Gillybobs · 15/04/2014 13:23

I'm obsessed with the Boden Chelsea trousers, I've bought two black one one navy, they are perfect for an apple . BTW I ordered the second black pair when it said 6 week wait, they appeared four days later!

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/04/2014 14:10

Oh, maybe I should have sized up in the Hampton trousers in the petite. Will try again soon.

Lego - maybe do it w pointed flats, then work your way up to higher heels? And drink booze. That helps my outfit nerve. Drambuie is the best for that.

MrsPeacockDidIt · 15/04/2014 15:55

i recently bought these from Banana Republic and got the regular and petite length and the size seemed exactly the same (UK14).

I LOVE them. Really comfy and lovely material.

LaTrucha · 15/04/2014 16:26

I havent bought any of those shoes. Good warning. Thanks.

For what it is worth I didnt like the material in the gap trousers.
