Alternative everyday trousers to jeans

I wear jeans literally all the time (except at work), just the one dark pair from White Stuff (which I do wash!). Can anyone suggest some other everyday trousers to go with lots of tops? I'm so bored of looking the same all the time! I also always wear Converse with them, so alternative comfy everyday shoe recommendations would be appreciated too! I look very young for my age, which I don't like, so something 'grown up' (I'm 32!) would be good! I don't think the jeans & Converse combo does me any favours. I'm of petite frame, size 8. I saw these on another thread and thought they were really nice. In fact, Boden does a pretty extensive line in jeans alternatives.

I'm not a converse type, but wear ballet flat and sandals in summer.

Am thinking of getting a third pair because they are so good.

I'd lose the converse and go for a ballet pump, as converse and jeans is a very childish look.

Having the same problem with jeans too. They are too easy to throw on, so I do. Have bought a couple of high waisted pairs, which at least mixes up my silhouette.

That, and a standard black miniskirt which I wear with tights.

I love printed trousers, but struggle to make more than one outfit out of them. My black and white tartan trousers only really go with something black or white on top, but it looks like the same outfit if I wear them more than once a week.

I got some black fleck linen trousers in a monsoon sale which I wear with converse...hell will freeze over before I swap them for ballet pumps

Nothing wrong with converse imho - everyone wears them now! If I add a blazer to jeans and converse it really changes the whole look.

Like those chinos frankie linked to. Might go and try those myself!

I like the Boden & Gap ones, thank you. Frankie, those shoes look so comfy, but I fear they may still be young looking. I've noticed quite a few shops do that style now, so perhaps I should try a few.

I love the look of ballet pumps, but often find them very hard under the sole, and also they often cut across my bunion, which doesn't so much stick out as up, just an enlarged joint really. Can anyone recommend some comfy flats? I have 2 small children, so not tottering around in heels! Also find higher waisted trousers better having had 2 caesareans.

I find ballet flats so uncomfortable too. I know they look great...

I have just bought some soft leather lace up brogues from clarks which I can recommend!

Loafers are quite nice.

I like the idea of ballet pumps but my feet are narrow so they are not comfortable so I get where you are coming from. In my head they look chic and sophisticated but in reality I look like a mad woman who would have 30 cats at home and write love letters to Simon Cowell. grin]

I wear my floaty silver grey linen trousers with Converse - I feel great in them so I am not really bothered about what anyone else thinks about them

Not sure about those Converse ballet pumps to be honest, the bow on the back looks a bit odd! Might check out the Sainsbury's version though, cheap & cheerful perhaps.

So it seems I should be wearing my skinnies & Converse with pride?! It's not that I don't like the look, but at 5'3" with a petite frame, I don't think it does me any favours, I don't feel like a grown up on the school run!

I got some jeggings today in Uniqlo, in grey & black. They're so comfy, but slightly worried about the risk of camel toe! Or are you just supposed to wear a long top?! I'm so out of touch. Might need to try them on again at home to make my mind up. I'll try to post a link to the jeggings, if anyone's interested.
