i also remember puff-balls the first time round. i had a red puff-ball dress. and i remember pedal pushers(capri pants)first time round. and flourescent(sp) ankle socks. i used to sometimes wear two different socks. one bright pink and one bright yellow! i also had some electric blue pixie boots. and a rara skirt that i loved.

cupcakes · 06/08/2006 21:19

I really like that M&S dress - it's in INStyle thus month, as is a grey knitted dress (note, new noughties name) from Gap that I may get. Or at least try on and see what it looks like stretched over bump. God, I already know it's going to be hideous.

I had a sweater dress which I used to wear bunched over a belt at the waist. With green pixie boots from Chelsea Girl. I also had a fab electric blue jumpsuit with a thin belt round the waist. I loved it but then ripped a hole in the knee which my mum then patched with liberty print fabric and then insisted I still wear (I was 10).

zoeuk1 · 06/08/2006 21:20

i remember buying a stone wash denim jacket from chelsea girl!

popsycal · 06/08/2006 21:21

cupcakes · 06/08/2006 21:22

I must have bought this tracksuit around 86. I had one in pale blue as well.

zoeuk1 · 06/08/2006 21:23

i also had some black leather trousers that i wore with white shoes and my duran duran t-shirt and a suit jacket with the sleeves rolled up. i thought i looked just sooo cool!

helsi · 06/08/2006 21:23

Clockhouse was C&A trendy young peoples bit wasn't it?
My sweater dress was blue and green.

MrsJohnCusack · 06/08/2006 21:25

my mother had a sweater dress with silvery thread in it.
and oh god Clockhouse and Dash...

Mercy · 06/08/2006 21:37

ra-ra skirts, lacey tights.

MrsSpoon · 06/08/2006 21:39

Oh yes, Dash was fantastic. In fact I am still upset about a dress that my Mum refused to buy me from Dash, she was almost there but at the last minute backtracked and said 'no'. It was black, tracksuit type material, zipped up the front and lots of zippy pockets, it had a very full skirt and was short-ish, IIRC my Mum felt it may be too short and that was the problem.

Tommy · 06/08/2006 21:45

I had a couple of those!
Saw one today in the Sunday paper and thought - blimey - I am getting old. I was about 14 and am now 39 so that would make sense wouldn't it.
I thought they were great.
Do they do maternity ones or would that look really weird?!

LIZS · 06/08/2006 21:49

I had a pink one with silver thread through it ! either British Home Stores or Clockhouse . Also had a sort of skater style dress in bluey sweatshirt fabric a la Fame, cord knickerbockers and pink dungarees .

expatinscotland · 06/08/2006 21:51

those off-the-shoulder sweatshirts like Flashdance! oooo. i had 'em.

jennifer beals can't even dance. she had a double.

Mercy · 06/08/2006 22:01

Oh god, Fame. I'd forgotten about that.

Leg warmers - why?

expatinscotland · 06/08/2006 22:05

They do help if you have Achilles tendonitis, Mercy. And you're a ballet dancer. Otherwise, yeah, they belong in a studio.

Mercy · 06/08/2006 22:05

Sleeves rolled up

Alipiggie · 06/08/2006 22:06

But who had hot pants and platform shoes in the 70's. Mine were black pseudo leather and red platform shoes. Jumpsuits are making a huge comeback over here in the US. Think I'll give them a miss this time round. Expat do you still measure!!!!!!

paddingtonbear1 · 07/08/2006 22:37

My mum used to love Dash. In fact I think the Dash store in Wilmslow (near where I work) is still open!!

heiferjamese · 08/08/2006 10:23

I used to love Dash to... Thought I was the Dogs * Had a lovely appricot jacket and sweatshirt and matching trousers with pale green turnups...

They still have a Dash dept in our Debenhams here in Swindon.....
