What do you call your underwear?

We say pants, for boys' and girls', but confusingly I find myself calling ds's "pantie pants" just because everything ends up having an "ie" on the end of it.

Do you wear pants, or knickers? Or something else?

Pants for the boys
Knickers(knick knicks by dd1!) for girls.

Bozza · 04/08/2006 21:27

DH - boxers (but I sometimes call them underpants to annoy him)
me - knickeres
DS - pants
DD - pants, sometimes knickers

Generically we might use pants for anybody.

hulababy · 04/08/2006 21:27

Pants

TambaIsBadBadBad · 04/08/2006 21:28

I wear knickers
the boys wear pants

DS1 thinks bras are called knickers though so gets confusing.

Cappucino · 04/08/2006 21:28

pants or knickers

alarmingly, this even applies to dh

FrannyandZooey · 04/08/2006 21:28

"Generically we might use pants for anybody."

is making me larf for some reason

did you mean to put "knickeres", Bozza? I doubt it which is a shame. It sounds very flamboyant.

mustrunmore · 04/08/2006 21:29

Me... knickers
ds1... knickers
dh... daddy's knickers, but boxers if no ds1 listening, and dh calls them underpants (yuck).

FrannyandZooey · 04/08/2006 21:30

I am hoping to uncover a new MN word for pants along the lines of "norks" or "fanjo", tbh. However so far I am just relieved you are not all saying "fanny wrappers" or something.

OP posts:
Posey · 04/08/2006 21:30

The boys always wear "pants", me and dd wear "pants" or "knickers"

Gobbledigook · 04/08/2006 21:31

Boys - pants/underpants
Me - knickers
Dh - boxers

Bozza · 04/08/2006 21:32

No I didn't mean to put the extra 'e' - obviously a combination of a day out in the sun and a couple of glasses of wine is taking its toll.

By the generic thing - I meant if I had a basketful of mixed underwear I would just say "it's pants and socks" - or if we were going somewhere "we need to take clean pants", that sort of thing.

PiccadillyCircus · 04/08/2006 21:34

Everyone here wears pants. Except DD (who wears a nappy )

Mercy · 04/08/2006 21:38

dd and I wear knickers, dh wears boxers or shorts (ds still wears nappies).

dh gets confused because he still sometimes says pants to mean trousers.

expatinscotland · 04/08/2006 21:38

knickers.

dh says he wears boxers.

imaginaryfriend · 04/08/2006 21:39

knickers for me and dd
pants for dp

... Do you wear Franny-wrappers?

Gobbledigook · 04/08/2006 21:39

PC - even ds3 calls his nappy 'pants' - he wears pull ups

FrannyandZooey · 04/08/2006 21:41

Well we are all quite dull aren't we? A rogue 'e' has added the only frisson of excitement so far

OP posts:
noddyholder · 04/08/2006 21:41

boxers for boys knickers for girls

PiccadillyCircus · 04/08/2006 21:41

Actually, DS's night time pants are pullups (but they wouldn't be called nappies ).

DD is a little young to be calling her nappies anything just yet .
