Insane urge to buy whole Boden catalogue

ItsATIARA · 30/01/2014 17:40

Ocado have just been and included Spring/summer Boden catalogue as usual. I flicked through, as usual, but instead of then dumping it in the recycling, I am seriously considering the Ravello top, the Grace dress, the Chic wool suit, the flower show dress, the casual jersey dress, the t-shirt dress, the floral skirt, the turnup trousers, the full stripy skirt, the bowling bag, the cable knit jumper, and the loafers.

Please come and tell me that a) their prices are ridiculous, even with their transparently fake "15% off" - I could get the same much cheaper on the high street with some canny shopping b) I don't need any of it c) none of their models have any bottoms at all, so a pearshaped person like me would look dreadful d) they're all horrible garments and I only think they're nice because it's so sodding dark and grey outside and I like the sunny colourful pictures.

It will all be a bit brash and frumpily cut and disappointing. You know this. It always is.

Yes, Riviera photo shoots have a lot to answer for.

dottyaboutstripes · 30/01/2014 18:02

Prices in general are ridiculous. I ordered a dress and I just can't see how on earth they could justify the £99 price tag. I'd wait for a better offer!

Rooble · 30/01/2014 18:08

Not only that, but it's too chilly and wet to wear any of it yet, by the time it's warm enough, it'll no longer be new and no longer exciting to put on.

WhereIsMyHat · 30/01/2014 18:13

Bloody ocado, I agree with the flowershow dress, I like the yellow. The blue's a but too post natal Kate Middleton for me.

My favourite is the bistro shorts. I also love the brogues and loafers. I won't buy anything though as it's just a bit uninspiring to justify the cost.

TulipOHare · 30/01/2014 19:26

Not sure if they still have them, but they had last year's loafers in many sizes on their Ebay store for £39 recently.

BikeRunSki · 30/01/2014 19:30

I took one look at the Boden Spring catalogue, laughed and threw it away.

CustardSliced · 30/01/2014 21:44

Ooh! How do you find the eBay store?

RonaldMcDonald · 30/01/2014 21:48

you are not buying Boden but the summer the catalogue offers

give yourself a shake and have some salt with your porridge in the morning

ItsATIARA · 30/01/2014 21:59

Do you think they'd gift wrap that summer for me Ronald?

eBay is your friend here. I feed my addiction by buying Boden there and then reselling - I usually get my money back!

TulipOHare · 30/01/2014 22:01

Here OP. Only in tan, though.

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 30/01/2014 22:56

It is true. It turns up and is generally a bit frumpy. I have a fair bit of past season Boden but know better these days. The bits I have I always mix with youthful clobber from Topshop, Oasis and Warehouse to dilute the mummsy effect.

CustardSliced · 30/01/2014 23:46

Yes you don't want to look too Boden-y but a well placed bit here and there can work. TulipOHare I love tan leather!

TulipOHare · 31/01/2014 00:26

Haha, my post does sound like I'm disparaging tan leather. I was a bit terse. Nothing against tan leather Grin I just meant that they are not quite like the ones OP has noticed in current season Boden catalogue.

I have quite a lot of Boden, but there's really nothing I like at the moment Confused . I suppose because I only ever really bought basics, tees and jumpers and stuff, and I have enough of those. But even so...there is nothing in this spring range that made me go "oooooh...." Was the same last year, actually.

CustardSliced · 31/01/2014 11:43

Same here although I prefer a nice autumny catalogue full of people flouncing round stately homes wearing some nice knitwear and brown-hued tweed to a sun-filled riviera scene.

MrsCocoa · 31/01/2014 14:27

With you on enjoying Boden's mists and mellow fruitfulness vibe in the autumn catalogue more than spring/summer. Am just about to order something from clearance: does anyone happen to know a code for free postage/returns?

wakarimasen · 31/01/2014 18:03

TYOU gets free delivery and returns.

TheBeautifulVisit · 31/01/2014 18:09

I had a flick through the catalogue a couple of days ago and there isn't one thing I'd want to buy.

Boden is over.

Dalaimama · 31/01/2014 18:13

Agree 100%

Twinklestein · 31/01/2014 18:23

Boden is exactly what I don't want to look like. Boden and Clarks.

Flangeofmingetown · 31/01/2014 18:27

I like their black maxi dresses and cropped bright cardigans. That is all mind.

scarlet76 · 31/01/2014 18:56

One of my new years resolutions was less Boden.
Agree that it works best when mixed with a bit of Topshop.
Have ordered the jersey stripe skirt. Will wear with a fitted shirt and brogues.

CuttedUpPear · 31/01/2014 19:55

Somebody link me something nice

frankietwospots · 31/01/2014 22:11
