Nice handwash, that doesn't dry your hands or cost the earth?

We've just finished renovating a house and I have this not at all pretentious idea that I'd like posho hand wash in the guest WC. Would rather not spend a fortune and want something that isn't drying.

Any ideas?

The Champneys 'rose' is fab. Buy from Boots :)

I like the Simple one that is widely available, it has a slight minty smell and it also has a slight greeny colour to it, It is about £2 but often on a 2 4 1offer. I tend to cheat and decant it into a nice White Company glass hand wash pump bottle that was a present years ago!!

Body shop hemp handwash is great.

thanks for the ideas!

'Simple' brand moisturising handwash - smells v good (delicate rose geranium) and is really gentle, I find. Buy from Boots and some supermarkets. Not expensive - around £2 and last a long time.

PastaandCheese · 21/01/2014 11:26

I like the Champneys ones too.

101handbags · 21/01/2014 12:13

I am not exactly sure this comes under the 'posho' tag but the nicest one I have found is the Palmolive Naturals Milk & Honey liquid handwash, it smells gorgeous and it's really moisturising.

PastaandCheese · 21/01/2014 14:20

I should add my favourite is L'Occitane lavender which is £18 but it's a massive bottle - 500ml. The one in the kitchen has 1/4 left and I bought it last June.

You only need a tiny bit and the dispenser only gives a little bit hence why it has lasted so long.

It depends what you want to spend though I think.

ihatethecold · 21/01/2014 14:22

I got a massive posh one from tkmaxx in the clearance aisle. For £2

cupcake78 · 21/01/2014 14:24

Go to tk max and have a look. They do nice soap and cream combos. Smell them before you buy. Some have a beautiful bottle but smell horrible.

Gillybobs · 21/01/2014 14:28

Savon de marseille is liquid soap made with vegetable oil, I picked it up in TK Maxx and am amazed at how silky it feels. Such a difference. They sell it in a few different sizes but often it's in the clearance where it's about 3 quid for 500ml

Twinklestein · 21/01/2014 14:55

Organic Surge smells good and is also cheap.

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/01/2014 16:42

I also love palmolive, I get the kitchen one that eliminates odours its green I think. The sea theme one for the bathroom and the honey one is gorgeous.

You can get baylis and harding soap/ handcream sets in tk maxx for about £3 and they're quite big so would last a while.

I like the Aldi orange one. Smells very nice.

PedlarsSpanner · 21/01/2014 17:57

Waitrose own brand clementine and ginger is lush. Only a quid.

escargot · 21/01/2014 17:59

I think the secret to the cheapies is decanting them if you want posh-looking ones on show.

I'm afraid Bayliss & Harding dry my hands out terribly. I usually use L'Occitane but have been chuffed with the smell (and look) of the Champney's one. They have matchy-matchy handcream too!

Pollywallywinkles · 21/01/2014 18:06

I'm using a Champneys one at the moment. No dry hands, smells lovely and it is lasting well.

I do find that I often go through the cheaper ones much more quickly than some of the more expensive ones.

LittleBabyPigsus · 21/01/2014 18:28

Olive oil soap is lovely and so moisturising - personally I'd get a bar, the £1 Oliva from Holland & Barrett or a ~rustic looking cube of Savon de Marseille if you want something a bit posher. You can also get liquid olive oil soap though. Get both here or from TK Maxx. I love proper bar soap though and it lasts much longer.

miffybun73 · 21/01/2014 18:32

Yes to Waitrose own brand Clementine and Ginger - it's gorgeous.

I also really like Palmolive Milk and Honey.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 21/01/2014 18:33

I'm on Carex 'cola bottles' at the moment, having used up my 'chocolate orange' over Christmas. Might not be expensive but smells lovely :)

Domus · 21/01/2014 18:48

Not sure if it counts as posho but Lidl cream soap in a pump bottle is lovely. Only those who shop in Lidl themselves will know where it came from....

mousmous · 21/01/2014 18:50

bar of soap.
saying it as eczema sufferer.
liquid soaps make my hands crack and itch.
