What colour boots with blue jeans? Is black a no no?

It always used to be! I have long black suede boots I wear with black jeans and trousers but am stuck as to what I should be wearing with dark blue jeans. Currently ballet flats which is freezing and daft in winter so I really need some new boots. I wear skinny jeans and am 28. What do you wear with blue jeans?

I know what you mean about black with denim. I usually wear a tan colour boot instead when it comes to blue colours.

I view denim as neutral. You can wear anything with it.

When I wear blue jeans, I base my footwear decisions on the top that I'm wearing.

I would go for brown but sure black would look fine.

Love buying new boots

I can't find any I like anyway which aren't black! Am not a fan of tan. was wondering about a sort of taupey/mid grey colour? and I prefer suede to leather. In other words - am quite picky!

I prefer brown myself but DD who's young and trendy wears black.

I think a lot depends on the boots- knee highs look ok in black but I think some styles of ( not all) ankle boots can look a bit old fashioned.

Normally wear black leather boots with dark blue skinnies... nice and toasty

That said, you need a choice of pairs: smart, casual, waterproof, not waterproof (as in your suede ones), high heels, flat, suitable for going out in...

That's at least three new pairs justified.

Black looks best with dark denim or if you are wearing a black top or a black coat.

I don't like black with dark blue so I got some dark blue suede boots for my dark jeans.

I have tan, very dark brown and green boots and only ever wear blue jeans.

I've never ever ever heard of this rule. Unsure what age had to do with it either.

Wear the boot you like and stuff the colour? I think brown can be very casual where black smarter. Horses for courses!

On the whole I never wear black with dark blue however denim is neutral and therefore in my opinion goes with any other colour (except more denim )

Definitely used to be not done to wear black with denim - had to be brown. Brown and blue. Black and black. But this stems from my youth and is obviously very out of date now which is good news for me!

I always wear black boots with dark blue denim. Biker boots or ankle boots usually. I have dark brown wintery knee boots that I love with them too, looks more casual and countrified.

Anything....stone suede, tan leather, black ....all depends on the rest of the outfit and I'm a bit of a sucker for a matching bag.

I mostly wear either black, chocolate brown or navy.

I like lighter boots on other people but not on me.

Any colour. I too base my footwear on what the top is.
