Do you...

  • love fashion (high and low end), style, beauty?
  • spend way more time than is healthy for anyone thinking about the contents of your wardrobe?
  • wish you had the nerve to apply for Mastermind with your specialist subject being the history of H&M collaborations?

If so come and chat! Hugs and kisses allowed

Thanks grumpy and umlauf I really love them, and was not sure about sizing, I'm a regular 26 in most brands, so maybe I will get a size smaller.
Both marsha Grin
I'm thinking of getting some boots, they have to be transitional ones, grumpy and ani do you rate the marant highly? I like the crissi a lot , another option is the rag and bones boots, but was not impressed when I saw them in liberty, they don't look like they worth all that. £££

Happy birthday mini justa

santamarianovella · 19/01/2014 17:34

Sorry Marsha no, what are you after ,might find it else where.

Fedupnagging · 19/01/2014 18:49

Just caught up on 3 days of MNV posts.

Happy birthday to all the MNV youngsters. I used to find kids parties at home a nightmare so used sports centres etc and where catering wasn't included, got the local chip shop to cater Blush.

Shop sorry you are having a hard time after swimming. Dry's idea is great and failing that I'd be sneaking chocolate buttons a healthy snack into the changing rooms!

Backpacks, hmm, am not sure. I used them all the time in the 90's when the ds's were small so I associate them with being a bit mumsy.

Thanks to you all, I now frequent all the high end websites! Yesterday, I was lusting after this gorgeous number but ended up buying one of these for ds2 for roughly the same price. (Did manage to negotiate £400 off though).

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 19/01/2014 19:09

That puts it into perspective Fedup - a handbag (albeit a beauty) = a car!!

Santa I far prefer my Marants to my Rag & Bone Newburys, and it's not due to the honeymoon period - I felt fairly ambivalent soon after getting my Newburys. I do like them, but they're not the most comfortable after wearing for a relatively short time. They just feel that tiny bit too high, as though they're slightly forcing your foot forwards, IYSWIM. The Marants are probably as high, but just feel more balanced somehow (supportive, perhaps). They (the Marants) are also extremely well made - I can't fault them. Also re the Gap patchworks, I'd say a 25 should be perfect for you as I'm also a 26 in most other styles and found the 25 spot on.

Love your style, BTW Wink

Happy Birthday justaJR!

We have survived DS's party! It all went well and everyone had a good time. One child was supposed to come but one hour before the party the mother texted to say they were going to be one hour late. Ok, no prob.

But then she texts two hours after the party has started that 'they are stuck in a restaurant' and won't come after all. Hmm

And one of the people invited but who hadn't rsvp'd (neighbours) rang at the door when the party had started to say they couldn't come as the wife had to leave on a business trip. Hmm

So the DF would be incapable to walk with his two DC the three metres to our house and take them to a party?!

Ok, rant over.

dry I have the Colts and I love them but they are definitely 'going out' shoes for me and I might have mentioned that they are a b*%#h to drive in as the leather is very thick and stiff.

Enjoying a well deserved glass of Wine

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 19/01/2014 19:32

Evening Wine

Well my shopping trip was a bit of a damp squib as M&S didn't have the floral shoes and Gap didn't have the patchwork jeans, sigh. Grumpy did you have better luck with the shoes?

Ended up buying only boring/useful things, tights, a hanger for belts and a crystal nail file to try.

I also got to try my Mary Portas dress (was delivered to my sister). shop you said you had issues - I was so disappointed! I thought it would be just right for my shape but it was too tight on the bum and boobs, too loose on the waist and yet there was a massive expanse of extra material under 1 arm only?! Very weird. Shame as it was the perfect colour for me.

Umlauf I've never really noticed that with the gap jumper, looking at it now there is a bit of distortion, maybe you are more well endowed than me? Wink

Glad the party went well Linus, how rude a minority of people are though!

shopafrolic · 19/01/2014 19:38

Really wanted to love those dresses Blair but I know lots of people, incl myself, who had similar issues. Very strange shape....
Linus stuck in a restaurant? WTF?!!!! Awful. Glad it went well. Enjoy the wine.
Happy birthday minijusta
What did you buy Marsha?
Colts look too high for me nowadays (shorter DH)
Day two in the house without DH that's gone ok. DS seems to be behaving better (like he knows). Perhaps I should send DH away more often. Joke! Hate the evenings though, sat solo eating dinner in front of the TV. Horrid.

justasecond · 19/01/2014 19:59

Happy birthday to LinusJnr too!
We bought the sewing machine and after an hour of so of tinkering and swearing it is up and running. Having pmt it is not the best time of the month for this sort of thing. I am crap though, not sure I will ever be able to sew in a straight line. I really admire people who have the patience for crafts. She also got a knitting set so I will now have to master that too!
The colts look lovely but way to high for me. I have ordered these to try as my last ditch attempt to find ankle boots this year
www.hudsonshoes.com/bronte-black.html?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Shopping&utm_campaign=Product&gclid=COXWteeCi7wCFWITwwodZAsAug I got them for around £65 in sale so worth a try. Not sure about the block heel as I usually prefer and angled one.
Do spill Marsha what did you buy?

Drywhiteplease · 19/01/2014 20:14

nice boots justa. If you lived nearby I'd pop round and sort your sewing machine out and teach you to knit, Youtube could be your best friend Grin
Shop I have eating on my own too. Can you have a sneaky Wine

Drywhiteplease · 19/01/2014 20:15

Hate!!!!!

LinusDKD · 19/01/2014 20:19

justa I couldn't sew to save my life! DH on the other hand, can sow quite well. Blush

shop I don't like eating on my own either. We usually eat at the same time as DC, which is quite early but otherwise I would have to start cooking after they have gone to bed and I can't be bothered.

OneLittleLady · 19/01/2014 20:22

Evening all, just popping in to say hello really. Mid way through my uni application for this year, after speaking to the course leader, they've said there's no reason, in principle, that they can't offer me a place this year so if everyone can cross everything they've got, that'd be great Grin

Fedupnagging · 19/01/2014 20:28

Justa how about these boots. They come in leather as well as suede.

shopafrolic · 19/01/2014 20:33

I want to learn how to knit.....

OneLittleLady · 19/01/2014 20:51

I got taught how to knit in primary school, we used to have a little club that would do it at break times and one of my classmates mums used to come in to teach us Blush

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 19/01/2014 20:52

Ordered these Clarks monk shoes after trying them today and them not having my size. I don't currently own a single pair of flat shoes aside from trainers so this is a start!

I have no crafty inclinations whatsoever, but my sister crochets and made me a beautiful replica of this in pink Smile. Good luck with the sewing and knitting justa.

One that's great news!

Drywhiteplease · 19/01/2014 20:53

Those are lovely Fedup.

Drywhiteplease · 19/01/2014 20:56

There is a beautiful knitting shop here, every time I drive past I think I should go in and have a look, but I don't trust myself I could go a bit crazy Grin

Fedupnagging · 19/01/2014 21:01

Yes Dry I may have to order them for me!

OneLittleLady · 19/01/2014 21:02

There's a craft shop in town that apparently does lessons in various crafts. might look into as something to do until uni starts but ive got dressmaking covered as Dp's Mums friend is going to teach me to sew once she's completed her move into town

LinusDKD · 19/01/2014 21:05

I was taught how to knit it secondary school but I was so rubbish at it that DM undid all I had knitted in class and knitted it again (adding a very generous amount)

I have knitted as an adult but only straight things like scarves as I have no clue how to do anything else.

My DvF dress and scarf have been dispatched by Matches! Can't wait! and ignores the fact that customs will charge the earth again

Drywhiteplease · 19/01/2014 21:06

How did I miss this and this
Some nice stuff in their S/S collection. And the more I think of it the more I need this but I'm not being tempted Smile

OneLittleLady · 19/01/2014 21:13

Stay strong Dry!

Fedupnagging · 19/01/2014 21:20

Linus dm did the same for me in junior school. in a lesson I would knit (& I use the term knit loosely) very little so was told to do some at home. Next week I produced the most perfect pair of mittensGrin

MarshaBrady · 19/01/2014 21:24

Hello! Have been at a late Sunday night birthday party. One of those ones way out where they run around like crazy climbing things and loud music.

So I'm glad there weren't any codes as just before I flew out the door I caved in and ordered the Sam Edelman petty putty from ShopBop.

I was really worried they were selling out everywhere in my size. and I dyed the other ones and they are now really bad. So! That's it for shoes. Until Lanvin flats
