Special treat Chloe Marcie or Anya Zip Satchel?

I am treating myself, with my end of year work bonus. I just can't decide though between the Chloe Marcie or the Anya Hindmarch Zip. I don't buy expensive bags everyday and I don't tend to swap and change, I stick with the same bag for weeks/months then change over.

Also I like my bags to last and not date, I still go back to Mulberry, Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga that I have had for years and years.

Please don't flame me for spending such a large amount on a handbag, I have worked really hard this year and deserve my bonus. I have booked a family holiday and upgraded the home pc, so time to treat myself. I've sent back tens of tan leather handbags last year that I just wasn't feeling the love for, and am taking the plunge before I chicken out again.

Marcie medium

anya although tan now sold out so would be black

I quite like this too, but already have a few mulberry so fancy something different

The Chloe Marcie would be my choice.

Chopstheduck · 10/01/2014 12:05

the marcie! I've been lusting after the marcie for aages but it's well out of my price range!

BrandyAlexander · 10/01/2014 12:06

Omg, you're brave starting an expensive bag thread!Shock

I have the Marcie, it is beautiful, really beautiful. But, it is heavy, so I wouldn't carry it around all day long.

The Anya is lovely. I would probably put the Mulberry 3rd.

Enjoy!Smile

1 - Anya Hinmarch
V. close 2 - Chloe Marcie
3 not keen but Mulberry

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 10/01/2014 12:12

yes I know I'm brave. I wouldn't normally need the advice of strangers but my head is spinning. I have tried to justify myself, I know people will think that its obscene to spend hat much money on a bag, but they do last and last and last and did I say I did work very hard last year Wink Santa didn't take the hint so buying for myself.

I am erring to the Marcie as it is gorgeous, I would have a day trip to London and go to Selfridges to try them out but then I'd spend lots of other money and probably come back without the handbag and be kicking myself so internet shopping probably the best way to go.

You'd get the Marcie for £695 buy it now on EBay. It's as new from truelovesway1962 - a seller in Chelmsford. It looks genuine to me but you could have it authenticated and you'd get your money back if it was a fake.

And the second hand market for the maxi zip is about 400 for the tan on EBay.

So you could get both. Grin

buttercrumble · 10/01/2014 12:21

Definitely the Chloe

cantthinkofagoodone · 10/01/2014 12:23

I saw Danielle Lineker on the dailyfail with a Marcie and thought it was gorgeous. I'm not much of a handbag person but would happily use that for a few months

justasecond · 10/01/2014 12:25

I would go for the Marcie, I love it. Although the Anya very versatile and more understated too.. Not that keen on the mulberry, I just don't like the big tree on it.

cardamomginger · 10/01/2014 12:31

whilst I love the anya, the canvas shoulder strap pisses me off. will get wet in the rain, will probably rub and mess up clothes more than leather would. and it just feels stingy - all that money and they couldn't be arsed to make a leather strap?

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 10/01/2014 12:34

haha Laurie I like your thinking

OP posts:
justasecond · 10/01/2014 12:35

I think that too cardamom it just spoils it a bit imo.

MissBeehiving · 10/01/2014 12:42

The Anya would be my choice but the ebay option sounds the best Grin

Hopefully · 10/01/2014 12:51

The Chloe is quite a classic shape bag, the Anya is more casual. What's your usual style like? I could carry a Marcie for work but would look like a lunatic carrying it round on a weekend. I've had an Anya for a couple of years now as my only bag and I love it, it's survived repeated throwing on the floor, toddler groups, family outings and use as a work bag.

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 10/01/2014 13:32

I work in a formal environment, so business wear, smart dresses tights jacket heels, but at the weekend I am still in dresses and skirts as that's my style. Tea/skater style dresses with tights, boots and cardy, even walking the dogs I just substitute my wool coat for a waterproof parka and my leather boots or wellies. I hate jeans.

Have you considered a bench? Wink

Seriously though, it sounds like the Marcie would suit your personal style more IMO.

MrsCampbellBlack · 10/01/2014 15:17

I have the Marcie in navy and the smaller Anya. I think the Marcie is nicer than the Anya.

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 10/01/2014 16:05

A bench you say now there's a thought Wink

The Marcie has been ordered before I chickened out. Now feeling slightly nervous that it won't be as nice as I hope.

BrandyAlexander · 10/01/2014 16:20

Oh fab, which colour Marcie did you get? Good choice!

HyvaPaiva · 10/01/2014 16:23

Marcie!

Sleepwhenidie · 10/01/2014 16:29

Ooh - a lovely bag thread!

Sleepwhenidie · 10/01/2014 16:31

whispers - if you want the Anya in black I do believe they have one in store at Anna...

Sleepwhenidie · 10/01/2014 16:32

doh, sorry, just saw that you were looking at tan - may still be worth calling Anna though.
