Special treat Chloe Marcie or Anya Zip Satchel?

I am treating myself, with my end of year work bonus. I just can't decide though between the Chloe Marcie or the Anya Hindmarch Zip. I don't buy expensive bags everyday and I don't tend to swap and change, I stick with the same bag for weeks/months then change over.

Also I like my bags to last and not date, I still go back to Mulberry, Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga that I have had for years and years.

Please don't flame me for spending such a large amount on a handbag, I have worked really hard this year and deserve my bonus. I have booked a family holiday and upgraded the home pc, so time to treat myself. I've sent back tens of tan leather handbags last year that I just wasn't feeling the love for, and am taking the plunge before I chicken out again.

Marcie medium

anya although tan now sold out so would be black

I quite like this too, but already have a few mulberry so fancy something different

I definitely like the Marcie most and it sounds like we have a similar style. I hope it's the right one and you enjoy it when it arrives! You have tempted me to start saving to buy one myself...

BrandyAlexander · 10/01/2014 17:39

Lol Sleep! I am such a dope too, I forgot OP wanted the lovely tan Marcie.Envy

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 10/01/2014 18:04

I really want tan. So ordered the tan Marcie the more brown version if that makes sense the other was a bit too orange. Hoping it's as lovely in real life. I have some other options to research if it's not quite right and at that price it needs to be right!

I like both but have to say the lighter tan version makes me swoonGrin let us know what you think when it arrives!

I bought a raspberry medium Marcie last spring and the stitching around the internal pocket started to come undone within 3 days of light use. I took it back & got a refund. I had previously owned a Chloe bag which broke within 4 weeks of my buying it, they took 3 months to agree that it was faulty & return my money. Please be very careful with where you buy it from, I'd suggest a big department store as they tend to have the best refund policy.

MarshaBrady · 10/01/2014 18:08

Chloe here too.

ShreddedHoops · 10/01/2014 19:39

What a fab decision to have to make! I agree with your choice - I love the look of the Maxi Zip but it's such a faff to get anything out of it! I had a big grey one which seemed massive on me so I returned it, then a small red one which was still a faff to get into so I Ebayed it for a profit wasn't a gift though Don't owners of the Maxi Zip find this annoying? I choose my bags with ease of access in mind Smile

AmberNectarine · 10/01/2014 19:43

Yes, that's true actually - a friend had to return her Chloe Baylee after one use as it was damaged. No experience of Chloe bags (other than drooling at them) here, so can't comment.

eshermummy · 10/01/2014 19:59

I agree with Shredded - I have twice bought and returned the Maxi Zip is various colours/sizes because I realised the faff it was to get anything in or out of it was going to drive me mad. It's such a shame as I still love the look of the Maxi Zip, I just know it wouldn't work for me.

MrsCampbellBlack · 10/01/2014 20:08

I got the maxi zip but smaller one for 50% off but yes, its not the easiest to use bag. I also think the larger ones can look a tad scruffy.

I got my marcie from HN so any problems and I'll be taking it back but so far so good and the stitching/leather seems pretty good quality.

Next bag is definitely going to be chanel though, in fact, I may start a thread Wink

BrandyAlexander · 10/01/2014 20:12

That's interesting about the Marcie, as I have had it a year (though haven't used it extensively) and it's been perfect. Shall be on the watch out thiugh!

bettykt · 10/01/2014 20:13

If I had that money to spend or someone else's Grin I'd go for the Marcie too. It looks absolutely lovely. Enjoy.

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 10/01/2014 20:15

I ordered from selfridges so hopefully ok. I ordered a Michael kors and returned it for a refund as wasn't sure I liked it. Also it's 20 minutes on the train to lond

Oh my goodness, I've been googling the Marcie mini in pale grey for months and months. It is absolutely gorgeous, and if I had the cash spare I would definitely buy it. So yes, another vote for the Chloe. Don't like the Anja. Quite like the Mulberry, but not as much as the Chloe.

Love the fact that you are justifying it - it is your money that you have earned, and you can afford to spend it on a bag, enjoy it!

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 10/01/2014 20:16

20 minutes on the train to London if I have problems with the internet team and want to deal face to face.

Thanks for your help.

It's the mummy guilt. I have 4 dc that I'm sure could find a use for the cash but they don't go without and it's just been Christmas. I didn't get a present as I'm single so I deserve it I'm sure. (See still justifying it, I can't help myself)

Chloe!

BrandyAlexander · 10/01/2014 20:26

Now the Marcie in grey is just divine just so pretty to look at whenever I have seen it in the shops!

MrsCampbellBlack · 10/01/2014 20:28

Dontletthemmake you feel guilty!!

Seriously, having just spent a fortune on my dc's - start of term and all that, I refuse to feel guilty for having nice stuff.

Providing you're not selling their kidneys to fund it - its fine. And actually good for children to see that parents work hard to have nice stuff.

Saurus72 · 10/01/2014 20:52

Novice - I've only seen it online. I'm too scared to look for it in an actual shop as I'm pretty sure I would buckle and I just can't afford it right now. Although I am considering saving £50 a month so that I could buy it later in the year. I've never spent that much on a single item of clothing/accessory. Not sure if I'd feel too scared to use it, and I definitely don't believe in 'keeping things for best', so I would want to use it all the time.

I love talking about handbags, and I don't feel bad about it Wink
