What is the Official Position on tights/socks/popsocks with trouser suits?

I don't know what to do.

I usually wear a skirt to work with black tights (oop in the cold north). But for the days were? where? when I need to wear trousers, what is best?

Bare feet are out, I get little clammy feet, even in winter. Tights over trousers seem weird. Can't wear thick socks with nice heeled court shoes, so that leaves pop socks, either a black denier or nude coloured, then my DM told me that I'll look like a granny if I wear pop socks

It's the ickle blocky heel. And the pointyness.

In fact, the objection is to the shoes plus pop sock poking out of trousers. Tights would be as bad. It is wrong, wrong, wrong. Shoes with bare feet or ankle boots, with proper socks, only. In my world, anyway.

If it's only the knee high bit that would worry you, would pop socks like this do?

I have those Topshop sheer socks with the flowers.
Always wear them or plain black/grey/burgundy pop socks.

Am yet to find boots which I can wear with suit trousers.
In winter I either wear skirt/opaques, skinny trews/boots or suit trousers/pop socks/heels.

I'd love someone to suggest non mum booty boots...

Shoes with bare feet feel so rank. Nude pop socks are fine, they just look like bare feet as long as you don't get American Tan type monstrosities.

Clearly I am hideously unstylish, but I wear normal black socks in winter and nude pop socks in summer with court shoes and trousers to work. Most of the women you see who look like they have bare feet are probably wearing pop socks because unless you are looking really closely then you can't see them! Surely that is the point of pop socks!

And yes they are hideous things that everyone hates, but they have a practical use. I've never seen one person in my office with bare feet (when I've looked closely) except during an actual heat wave.

Tights under trousers is fine, especially if they are "almost black" with shoe boots.

I wear black fishnet socks or similar types of sock with a more closely knit pattern - I buy mine in Boots. If you have a big Boots store near you OP they might have a decent selection (I get mine near my office in London as the tiny branch out in the burbs where I live doesn't have any).

Having spent past god knows how many years wearing opaques,I tried to buy sheer tights for Xmas function.
No 'barely black' to be found in local M & S.
They must be 'over'!

M&S is hardly fashion-forward. Try Wolford or Falke.

Fishnet pop socks are the way to go, but you need to be really careful crossing the road in case you do get knocked down and taken to hospital...

I wear pop socks, I have big feet so skinny jeans and mum boots look fecking ridiculous.

Although I have to admit I thought pop socks were those little ankle sockette type things for sports.

Pop socks (knee highs) or socks and boots here. Boots either flat biker style or wedge suede for me.

What are popsocks? I've tried googling but they look like socks made out of tights material, is that right?

It really depends on how cold it is. I have been known to wear thick, cable tights under trousers I have.
