I'm not fat as such. But how to lose some weight/bloat before Christmas?

I am very short at 5 ft2. Carrying a bit extra all over but mainly around middle and thighs and bum. Also chin! How do I slim my chin and face? Any tips etc never done a proper detox or whatever but I'm open minded.

I'm biased as I eat this way anyway, but for quick results especially around the middle low carb is always hugely effective for me.

Cheesyslice · 14/12/2013 20:04

Low carb. Ditch the sugar. Drink TONS of water. No evening grazing.

CaptainSweatPants · 14/12/2013 20:05

low carb
no alcohol
loads of water

beckslovestimmy · 14/12/2013 20:23

Low, really low carb and lots of water
Will give you a really flat tummy quickly Grin

TinyDiamond · 14/12/2013 21:20

OK great. do you think I'd notice a diff in just 10 days even?

OP posts:
BitchyFestiveFace · 14/12/2013 21:23

Low carb. I've been doing this for about 10 days now and already feel slimmer.

I haven't been drastic about it (I still have a bit of chocolate in the evening, small bowl of noodles now and again) but I've dropped bread, pasta, chips and crisps entirely. Surprisingly painless - I'm not hungry for them and don't miss them Hmm

Am a couple of pounds lighter and much less flabby.

lurkingaround · 14/12/2013 21:25

What about a 3 day juicemaster diet? Not easy, and I'm not a fan of quick fixes but in emergency it might be worth a go?

RubyLovesShopping · 14/12/2013 21:25

Cut out the following: bread, potatoes , pasta, chocolate, cheese and crisps. Drink 2-3l water each day. You will see a difference within 2-3 days.

HoHolepew · 14/12/2013 21:26

Low carb, low sugar, no booze, no artificial sweetners, no eating after dinner.

TinyDiamond · 14/12/2013 21:34

OK I am going to do it. Usually eat well anyway. Unfortunately I have a Christmas lunch tomorrow. Will hold the roasties.

Sorry not advice, just an observation. Why do us short girlies always gain weight around the chin??! I am only 5 ft and it's the first sign that I've put on a pound! Straight under the chin. Flippin' annoying . . .

TinyDiamond · 14/12/2013 21:41

happened when I was pregnant and has never left grrrrrr! My face is much flabbier than it used to be even if I only weigh 4lb more than I did as a teen. Even when skinniest I look bigger in face when on my period too.

5 and 2. If you're not fat but want to lose a couple of pounds..... Get fasting. It works.

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/12/2013 21:53

5ft6 and very prone to chin pudginess myself. Blooming cruel!

You'll notice it very quickly - 10 days low carbing is enough to drop a good few pounds. I've just gone back to LC (been working away for months, nightmare food wise!) and my waist shrunk 2" in the first week

TinyDiamond · 14/12/2013 22:17

OOh interesting. Can you still eat bananas? Or oats?

OP posts:
beckslovestimmy · 14/12/2013 22:26

Only very occasionally and only small portions on the bananas and oats, lots of meat, fish, salad, eggs. I did occasionally eat nuts (not lots though- they are high in carbs but still ok to eat) think high protein. I did scrambled eggs for breakfast, salad with meat for lunch, then maybe stir fry for tea, roast dinner without the potatoes or other high carb veg. You could make a low carb high protein soup?

TinyDiamond · 14/12/2013 22:27

Ok got it, all carbs then not just the obvious ones. I usually eat porridge every day so won't do. Been eating lots of eggs. But....sorry tmi, it's giving me terrible wind!

My whole diet is carbs - sandwich at lunch, pasta or noodles or potato for tea. What do you lot eat?

EarSlaps · 14/12/2013 22:57

5:2 and reduced carbs. I started 5:2 as I wanted to lose that last half stone of baby weight. 1 1/2 stones later and I feel great. Reducing carbs helps stop that bloated feeling.

Reducing carbs is easy for me but low/no carbs would just feel a bit too joyless I think.

EarSlaps · 14/12/2013 23:05

Bounty- Greek yoghurt with nuts, seeds and a small drizzle of honey is my favourite breakfast (ok, so the honey is carbs, but I am reduced carb, not low carb). Or a small omelette is lovely too.

Open sandwich for lunch- half the bread Smile. Or a delicious salad, or omelette if you didn't have that for breakfast.

Meat with salad (summer) or roasted veg (winter), curry with cauliflower rice, stir fry with tons of veg or zero noodles.

Like I say, I have just reduced carbs as I still love pizza and cake too much, but cutting down does seen to help control appetite, plus I rarely get that horrible bloated feeling. We just eat far too much carb in this contry- pasta with garlic bread, pizza and chips etc. I guess it's because they're cheap.

bountyicecream · 14/12/2013 23:18

Dumb question but is rice carbs?

In my defence I do run a lot so prob need carbs normally, but could go 10 d without I reckon for a flat stomach at Christmas

EarSlaps · 14/12/2013 23:26

Yes, rice is carbs Smile. Anything sugary/starchy will be high in carbs- rice, pasta, bread, potatoes, noodles, polenta, cous cous are your basic carbs. Cutting down on those starchy carbs will help banish the bloat. Fruit is really sugary so go for veg instead, cutting out the sweetness helps kill the carb cravings I find.

BitchyFestiveFace · 15/12/2013 00:30

I agree, I wouldn't like to cut them out completely. I just cut down really. White pasta, rice, crisps are pretty nutritionally useless so I don't bother with them any more, but if I want a jacket potato or some roasties I'll have them.

I have eggs, good meat (nice bit of steak, roast chicken, game, duck), steamed veg, stews and soups (without potatoes or dumplings). Some nuts. Some cheese. Olives. All my favourite things, really.

TinyDiamond · 16/12/2013 20:07

I'm doing well today eaten no carb high protein and did my first pilates class.

Low carbs, spanx and check you have the correct bra size on, I've gone for a re-measure (somewhere decent like John Lewis), looked in the mirror with my top on and the difference of a new bra has been amazing.
