My lovely DP is offering a new bag for Christmas.. This will be a long-term "keep" bag and something I'd like to get a lot of use out of. My initial thoughts were the LV for work, travel etc but I do love the M one too ... Any thoughts to help me decide??

Wow - thanks for all your input, really appreciate it

Love the Artsy - about the right size but ££££. The soft leather is fab too but hoiks the price right up.

Love the Burberry bag style Bambi , not sure re colour - could be limiting

Still dithering - didn't think this would be so difficult! @Dumpy does the mono canvas mark in the rain?

No it doesn't, and in a very Paris Hilton cliche.....my chihuahua did a little wee on it Shock and I was able to clean it with a damp cloth and anti-bac spray and it was just fine!
Please note - on the bag, not in it....I am not Paris Hilton Grin

ShreddedHoops · 12/12/2013 13:42

Lol Dumpy! This thread has brought out all the MN WAGS Wink

I love that Burberry one btw, it's on my wishlist. Beautiful colour irl, although probably more of a winter bag.

Phwooooar · 12/12/2013 14:22

Well I have an Irish Setter so wouldn't fit neatly in many bags and his wees aren't little Grin. Will never be a WAG I think.

That's what I thought about the Burberry and this one will have to do for everything (although I do have other bags of course Smile

Grin Grin at the idea of me being a WAG! You'd want to see the nick of me!
I have many, many bags...of all shapes, sizes, and varying quality - however - since my birthday in June, I have only used Neverfull. It seems to magically go with everything!

OhTinky · 12/12/2013 19:53

I do like that Burberry bag. It may be the bag I have been searching for! I have a Prada tote which is similar in shape to the LV. I deffo wouldn't get a full price bag, most will be significantly reduced in the January sales!

Bambi75 · 12/12/2013 20:04

If you look on burberry website they do that bag in other colours too, including black, cream & a dark pinkish red colour. Lush. It's the style of bag that will never date, I might have to save up and get it for myself :-)

Aside from this, im finding a distinct lack of choice in classic non fussy styles this (and last) season. Loads of bags with too much fussiness, weird shape or too much bling attached to them

What size Neverfull?
I wish they had a zip. Nightmare because of pickpockets out in force in stores at Christmas

Phwooooar · 13/12/2013 08:28

Still undecided... although have gone off Daria.

Love those Burberry's although not sure how much they'd fit in - ipad, work stuff, etc. What a fab colour that damson is and I'm not even a pink/red kind of girl.

holly was going for the MM size.

I had the Neverfull and I got rid. First the no zip/clasp was a nightmare in London, secondly, the handles aren't long wear over a winter coat comfortably, they are also quite thin so if you've got anything heavy in the bag the handles dig into your shoulder.

mrsrhodgilbert · 13/12/2013 14:53

I wouldn't got for LV personally, I don't like the logo and there are so many about. I never know if they are real or fake. I think they're more copied than Mulberry. But the Daria would not be a good choice if you want to carry a laptop in it, just the wrong shape and probably not big enough. Also the leather is very soft on these. I also think this bag might be discontinued soon. There is a very similar new one on the official website called the Pembridge. It does not have the big brass disc and the leather could be more substantial but its about £300 more than the daria.

I really like the daria but it may not be the best for you.

Twinklestein · 13/12/2013 16:43

'the handles aren't long enough to wear over a winter coat comfortably'^

Twinklestein · 13/12/2013 16:51

Have you checked out Aspinal OP, very good quality leather, not so everywhere as Mulberry, they do good 'business' bags too.

Gloria42 · 13/12/2013 16:55

I have a Daria, got it earlier this year for my 40th. Didn't think I would like the large badge but it is really not as blingy in real life. I love my bag, good size, smells amazing and the option to change the strap from cross body to under arm makes it really wearable

ExcuseTypos · 13/12/2013 21:42

I have a mulberry very similar to the Daria, it just doesn't have the large logo badge. I got it about 6 years ago and it's so useful. Wouldn't be without it.

Karbea · 13/12/2013 22:15

I'd definitely get the lv they are timeless and their customer service is amazing if it ever needs fixing.

Lighthousekeeping · 13/12/2013 22:23

Don't get a Bayswater whatever you do. Much as I love mine it's so bloody heavy. Did you watch that show about knock offs the other night? No one could tell the reall LV from the fake.

celestialsquirrels · 13/12/2013 22:44

I am a bag expert
I haven't bought a mulberry for 10 years or more - the quality is crap and I don't think much of the quality of design either.
I am not a fan of anything made of LV monogram. I think you need to be much more stealthy with LV but that is a matter of taste.
Bags are so expensive these days that I want some actual craftsmanship for my buck. That means nothing American, practically nothing branded with the name of a recent fashion house... In fact it really means that I basically only buy Fendi, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Hermes, Celine. At the moment I'm using a big Bottega hobo in a taupey grey which is fab. Fendi is always worth a look- some beautiful shapes and fabulous leathers. I prefer not instantly identifiable stuff so tend not to be drawn to Chanel although if you like that look that is good quality. Actually Tods bags are good at a lower price point - proper Italian leatherworking you see...

Phwooooar · 13/12/2013 22:49

Tbh the fake thing doesn't bother me too much - I'd know it isn't.

Went to check out Mulberry today and didn't lust after any in particular - Effie was closest. Most too small or too heavy.

The Aspinall ones look a bit too formal - very beautiful though.

How can this be so difficult! Have enjoyed this thread though - lots of inspiration Smile
