Colleagues happened to see mine and were marvelling at it

I always have mine painted, I look like a corpse otherwise! I wouldn't want to have unpainted toes even if it's only me that sees them Smile

MistAllChuckingFrighty · 06/12/2013 07:33

I paint my toe nails and (mostly) shave my legs/pits all through winter too Xmas Smile

Bunbaker · 06/12/2013 07:34

I only paint mine when they are on public show, so only in summer. Besides, it isn't good for your nails to permanently have them covered in nail varnish.

krazipan · 06/12/2013 07:34

Of course not, mine are painted all year round! I barely wear make up but I can't bear my toenails being bare!

Meglet · 06/12/2013 07:35

I paint mine nearly all winter. Give them the odd week off.

Babysealion · 06/12/2013 07:39

I paint mine all year round. I have ugly feet and hate them so find it helps me to not feel as embarrassed about them, say for example I go round to someone's house and have to take my shoes off and am not wearing any socks (ballet pump type shoes etc)

msmiggins · 06/12/2013 07:41

All year round here- but then I go to yoga/ Body Balance regularly where we exercise in bare feet. I love my feet anyway so I enjoy pampering them.

Vintagebeads · 06/12/2013 07:43

I always paint my toes, this week they are Navy.
It is the only way my ugly huge feet look slightly better.

dexter73 · 06/12/2013 08:04

I paint mine too. Why isn't it good for them?

Bunbaker · 06/12/2013 08:09

"I paint mine too. Why isn't it good for them?"

It causes discolouration of the nails. Although, if you wear a base coat it is supposed to prevent that. No-one ever sees my feet in this weather so there is no point in painting them.

I have bought some nail oil to improve the dryness of them as well and my naked nails look fine.

gaggiagirl · 06/12/2013 08:25

I paint mine all year round giving them a week off every few months.

dexter73 · 06/12/2013 08:46

Thanks Bunbaker - I use a base coat so haven't had my nails discolour. I paint my nails because I still see them and can go extra crazy in the winter. They are turquoise sparkles at the moment!

Bunbaker · 06/12/2013 09:03

Don't you get cold feet then?

dexter73 · 06/12/2013 09:08

In the evenings my feet get really warm so I take my socks and slippers off. I don't have bare feet all the time obviously!

MissMilbanke · 06/12/2013 09:09

I let mine grow out

Infact all of them have grown out except the big toes which are about half way grown out, like a kind of ombre in reverse !

I consider it kind of a nail science to watch how long it takes !

Nobody sees my feet in winter thank god

dexter73 · 06/12/2013 09:10

I suppose what I mean is I don't paint my nails for other people to look at but because I like them like that.

SirChenjin · 06/12/2013 09:11

I don't paint mine unless they are on show or likely to be on show. All that's on there at the moment is a bit of polish on my right big toe left over from the summer - at some point I will get round to removing it

SirChenjin · 06/12/2013 09:12

MissMilbanke - I salute you Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 06/12/2013 09:14

I give them a break in the winter, no sandals or shoes on barefeet = no polish needed for me. I wear boots and socks all winter.

I give my fingernails a break in the summer, only use polish about 1 week in 4, but use it all the time through winter.

lottieandmia · 06/12/2013 09:14

Mine are always painted. Bunbaker is right though - it does cause discolouration of the nails, even if you use base coat ime.

purrtrillpadpadpad · 06/12/2013 09:15

Miss, I'm the same.

I painted my nails two nights before I went in to be induced. I finally repainted them when DD was 6 months old and only a tiny bit of polish remained. I felt like I was painting away my old life, the last bit of evidence finally removed. I went for plum with crazy sparkles, why not eh? The rest of me is scruffy but my feet look awesome. Makes me happy.

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 06/12/2013 09:15

Mine get discoloured despite basecoat too, I always assumed that is because I leave it on for weeks on end as it doesn't seem to chip like it does on fingers.

BananaNotPeelingWell · 06/12/2013 09:16

I dont bother painting mine in the winter. I find because I'm wearing closed in shoes and thick socks and tights the polish doesnt stay looking so nice and needs doing more often and I think what the point no-one sees them. I do keep going with shaving legs and armpits though.

BananaNotPeelingWell · 06/12/2013 09:19

Mine polish doesnt chip so much as looks rubbed and dull if I've had my feet enclosed. I dont think it looks too great.

OneLittleLady · 06/12/2013 09:19

I have mine painted in winter, well all year round really but my sister does it for me as I can't do it myself. She does a really good job of it, not just painting them but trimming/filing etc. That might sound very lazy of me but I genuinely can't do it myself
