Are J Brand skinnies worth the money?

Basically that's it. Do they keep their shape or sag at the knees? I've done some googling but thought I'd ask here too before I spend the money!

Good question.. Watching with interest as I'd like to know the answer before I splash the cash too. I'm currently wearing uniqlo skinnies for everyday but was thinking of investing in jbrand 811s as a going-out pair.

Walnut8 · 26/11/2013 09:58

Me too Bambi - I have my eye on the 811s too.

I have three pairs of J Brand Skinnies and I love them. They have kept their shape and are still in great condition 2 years later. I've just ordered a pair of Cheap Monday jeans for US$60 from shopbop to see how they compare to J Brand.

Annianni · 26/11/2013 10:48

The photo ready ones are supposed to be v good.

foxysocks · 26/11/2013 13:03

i absolutely LOVE mine. they don't lose their shape at all, i only need to wash if they get dirty. v v v flattering and stay up well on me. mine are 811s, i tried on loads then ordered from shopbop which were lots cheaper (only works if you know your size)

Hetaera · 26/11/2013 13:16

I have the 811s and they are lovely. I keep them for 'best' and so have not washed them yet Blush! They have kept their shape for nearly a year with no bagging on the knees. I got them in the Donna Ida sale.

I would say buy them if you feel that they do something for you. They are not worth the ££££ in terms of fabric, but they are good quality and the fit is fabulous for me.

Bambi75 · 26/11/2013 13:25

What's the sizing like ladies? I'm a size 10 but a 27 in uniqlo so not sure how that would compare..

worldgonecrazy · 26/11/2013 13:27

I absolutely loved my J-brands. Just need to win the lottery so I can justify spending THAT much on jeans again.

Browns sometimes have them in the sales. I think they are true to size, so I am a size 10/12 and a 28/29 in J-brand.

Twinklestein · 26/11/2013 14:18

J Brands are absolutely worth the money. I have some 'super skinnies' which are 4% lycra & therefore extra stretchy and comfy; and 'Maria' which are high rise & really flattering.

If you scoot around on the net you may be able to find them discounted.

If you know the style name & your size you can pick them up on ebay.

Eastpoint · 26/11/2013 14:52

I think they come up big, I wear a 28 but would describe myself as a size 12. If you can wear a uniqlo 27 I'd say 26 or possibly 25, depending upon your shape. Super comfy. Rag & Bone are also good but cheaper & longer, I am wearing a pair of their skinnies now in a 28 which were £180 rather than £220 or so. Mine are a lovely aubergine colour.

rag & bone legging jeans

foxysocks · 26/11/2013 15:33

I'm an 8 and a 25 in j brands.

AmberNectarine · 26/11/2013 18:48

I'm a 10 and a 27 in J brand. I have a couple of pairs of 811s - they're ok but I prefer the 910s. Goldsign are my jeans brand of choice though.

MrsCampbellBlack · 26/11/2013 19:10

They vary hugely depending on style and rinse. Sizing varies hugely too.

I'm currently loving Ida jeans - way more flattering on me than even my photoready j brands.

skillsandtea · 26/11/2013 19:24

I've got JBrands in straight leg and bootcut. I'm a 10 and they are both 27. They fit perfectly but sometimes I wonder if the shapes look dated. I am 5'6" so I had to buy these in their petite range (although I wouldn't say 5'6" is short!) So are you all 5'10"+ tall? And if not how do you get the lengths altered?

Walnut8 · 26/11/2013 23:07

I went shopping recently and tried on a whole lot of jeans (not j brand though) and seem to generally fit a 28 in skinny jeans (I'm about a size 10). Hmmm. I really should find some to try on somewhere before I order I think.
I like the length of the J Brand jeans - for some reason cropped or ankle lengths are more flattering on me.
Bambi - I find Uniqlo on the big side.

SKillandtea - what do you mean they look dated?? I dont want to spend money on dated looking jeans?!! Smile

Walnut8 · 26/11/2013 23:08

Oh I just re-read your post Skills - you bought bootcut and straight leg - so it's just these shapes that look dated?

OP posts:
skillsandtea · 26/11/2013 23:14

Oh yes, sorry, I wasn't very clear. I meant the straight & bootcut. The skinnies look lovely and I really want some if I can find the right length.

MrsDavidBowie · 27/11/2013 07:32

Have the cigarette ones and the denim is wonderful
Goldsign are fab too.......I have the black straight ones and they are the best thing ever.

Hetarea...you've had jeans a year and haven't washed them? Shock

Bambi75 · 27/11/2013 09:38

Yikes, so many good reviews for j brand (and goldsign), this is going to hurt my wallet :-)

Question - am I right in thinking that the jbrand 811s come in one length only?

foxysocks · 27/11/2013 11:41

i didn't get a choice of length. i'm 5'9 with long ish legs and the 811s are a great length on me.

skillsandtea · 27/11/2013 12:48

Exactly my point. Being 5'6" means is have 3" overhang! What do you do?

MrsCampbellBlack · 27/11/2013 19:14

811's are pretty short - 29inch inside leg I think.

If you're tall J brand do a stacked version.

ShreddedHoops · 27/11/2013 20:37

Which Ida jeans do you have MrsCB? And am Envy of your photo readies - do you rate them?

I have 811s in a twill fabric, taupe colour, fab in summer and am getting wear out of them now too. They are massive though, I should have sized down at least one size if not two, I have my usual 28.

ShreddedHoops · 27/11/2013 20:38

I'm 5'6" and find the length perfect btw.

HomerPigeon · 27/11/2013 21:21

I have a pair of dark blue J Brand 811s in a size 26 waist that I want to sell if anyone's interested. Paid £200 in Trilogy for them, wore them once, realised skinnies are really not for me. They are very stretchy, I am a normal size 10 so would normally get 27 inch waist but in this style the 26 was the right size. PM me if interested.
