Anyone with very tall OH's out there? Where do they buy their clothes?

OH is 6'6" - clothes shopping is a nightmare! M&S do a range of 2" longer trousers and shirts but I wondered if there are any other options out there without spending a fortune!

Charles Tyrwhitt do up to 36" arm as standard and 35 and 36" arms are longer in the body, arms longer than 36" are about £9 on shirts. They're really nice shirts as well and you can usually find a voucher or code online.

Jacamo do a tall range, only found out the other day and I didn't find anything for DH, but worth a look.

High and Mighty-haven't been there for a while, tends to be more for larger than taller men, but they do sometimes have nice things with those crucial extra inches.

Watching this thread with interest!

Quoteunquote · 25/11/2013 11:57

Next on line for long legged jeans.

but hoping for tips, as DH is closer to seven foot as is DS1, and DS2 is going to be taller.

soaccidentprone · 25/11/2013 11:59

Xh was 6' 5'' and wore Levi's which you can get in stupid lengths. Or try next, they do lots of different lengths.

Katienana · 25/11/2013 12:00

Following with interest, DH is 6'4" with stupidly long arms. He tends to wear his shirts rolled up to the elbows a lot! Hollister is good for casual wear the hoodies have really long sleeves. Just discovered the M&S range so ordered a few jumpers will see what they are like. H&M can be good, as Scandi men are taller so cut to fit them.

tasteslikechicken · 25/11/2013 12:06

If you live anywhere near Cheshire Oaks they have a Charles Tyrwhitt outlet shop there, good value well made shirts. They also have an Italian Tailor outlet, (Bloggi?) who sell lots of trousers with unfinished hems. Again good quality smart/casual work clothes for when jeans aren't appropriate.

TobyLerone · 25/11/2013 12:08

My boyfriend before DH was 6'4" and he bought a lot of his clothes in Fat Face and Levis.

Felix90 · 25/11/2013 12:12

OH is 6ft 4 and is a nightmare for trousers. He's an ex rugby player and has massive thighs but a smaller waist in comparison. So if something fits him round the waist, it will be tight round his legs. He gets a lot of stuff from TK Maxx as they always have weird sizes. Also Fat Face seems to be good for t-shirts/jumpers/shirts as they fit well and the quality is good. He can't really buy from the usual Topman etc as tops are never long enough....

kernowal · 25/11/2013 12:14

High & Mighty on the high street and Jacamo on-line.

ColdTeaAgain · 25/11/2013 12:17

Thanks for replies!

Yes Katienana, same problem with arm length, always has sleeves rolled up even when they are the right length, think its a lifelong habit!

DH is 6 5, most of his clothes are from Next. He doesn't have long legs really, his height is in his body, and the shirts there are long enough in both arms and body. next have quite a good range of long leg trousers too ime.

Cakebaker35 · 25/11/2013 13:52

It's a nightmare - DH is 6' 5" and very slim. The main problem we have is although we find longer length items they always seem to assume a larger frame too. Just managed to get him a pair of jeans from Levi's with 36' inside leg and 32' waist but these were £70 so not cheap. Next I think are probably the best bet on the high street along with M&S but would love to hear of a anywhere else that's not too pricey.

2whippetsnobed · 25/11/2013 13:56

My dh is 6'8" and has clothes from loads of different places. His height is in his top half so if can wear a 33" leg trouser. His work suits are from M&S and he has some shirts from Tesco, Ben Sherman, craghoppers. Casual clothes are Weird fish and Debenhams but with various bits from all over. If has a coat and jumper from Barbour too.

magimedi · 25/11/2013 14:03

Oh is 6' 6" &very slim & legs are 36".

Lands end are good for trousers as will finish most of them to any length.

Sheplers - which are an American mail order company will send jeans to UK. DH recently bought some Wrangler jeans from them - they came to about £30 a pair, including tax & carriage. You have to pay UK VAT on them, but it is all arranged by the delivery company. He is very pleased with them.

Orvis - which is pretty expensive have a sale section in their on line shop & he's been lucky there a few times.

He's also done quite well in TK Maxx for jumpers & coats over the years.

TM Lewin do shirts with decent sleeve lengths & there is an outlet branch at Ashford & I think there are others.

Agree with Cakebaker about being tall & thin - it makes High & Mighty pretty useless for us.

If anyone wants more info on importing from Sheplers - I'll give all the details re paying the import tax etc.

The other annoying thing is that we have been married nearly 30 years & he has never put on weight - 6' 62 & 11.5 stone. NOT FAIR!!!!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 25/11/2013 14:11

DH is 6 foot 6 and wears a lot of Gant, Hugo Boss, Abercrombie and Fitch and some Tommy Hilfiger

Gant mostly though

Arkady · 25/11/2013 14:15

H&M do 36 leg 34 waist jeans, which can be as cheap as 15 quid.

Quoteunquote · 26/11/2013 22:17

Carhartt T-shirts are really good quality(don't shrink) and are a decent length.

sweetiepie1979 · 26/11/2013 22:31

Husband 6.3 we shop mantaray debenhams and white stuff.

Ainsiparici · 26/11/2013 22:34

Banana Republic shirts for long arms, and I just noticed he'd done an order to JCrew who sent an email advertising longer length stuff

Lancelottie · 26/11/2013 22:39

Clothes are easy for the totally style-free but it's beds and cars that defeat us.

Trying to bury the memory of dh being shoved into a CT scanner wrong end first, because otherwise he'd hit the wall...

Cutitup · 26/11/2013 22:40

Another fan of Charles Tyrwhitt (spelling!)

Felix90 · 26/11/2013 22:55

Lancelottie that reminds me of when we went to a festival a couple of years ago and couldn't zip the tent up because OH's legs stuck right out of the end. It was an absolute nightmare haha

trinitybleu · 26/11/2013 22:59

Same thing here Felix ... needs 40 in waists for his thighs but that's usually then a good 4in too big on.the waist!

He's a 36in inside leg and hardly anyone does that in a 40in waist.

TKMaxx for odd sized jeans (the Sean Jean type that are supposed to be v baggy work ok), Levis and Jacamo but v boring and polo shirt heavy.

The size 15 feet are also a problem!

LegoStillSavesMyLife · 26/11/2013 23:02

I discovered that PJs from Boden are good. Have real trouble for DH as he has a 30inch waist. Levi jeans are also great.

Everything else he tends to look like he's borrowed his dad's clothes.

Brighteyes27 · 26/11/2013 23:05

OH 6' 4'. Levi jeans, t shirts fat face and monetary (debenhams) XXXL - but these vary, work trousers Next or shirts and work trousers Jonathon Charles or High and Mighty.

Felix90 · 26/11/2013 23:06

Trinity I couldn't even begin to imagine the ball ache of dealing with size 15's! OH is a 13 and I find that hard enough. He's very in to his trainers etc too and it's so annoying. His toes are as long as my little fingers Blush
