Anyone with very tall OH's out there? Where do they buy their clothes?

OH is 6'6" - clothes shopping is a nightmare! M&S do a range of 2" longer trousers and shirts but I wondered if there are any other options out there without spending a fortune!

Lancelottie for cars, OH has been most comfy in Honda Accord (so much do we've had 3!) and currently a Vauxhall Ampera. He could also drive my old Fiesta (04 plate) without too much knee pain.

trinitybleu · 26/11/2013 23:08

Felix lol, his 2nd toe is as long as my little finger, and I have long fingers! Brantano for shoes ... have even had sandals and wellies before now! When we first met, he wore nothing but army boots for 7 years, no matter the occasion ... Shock

fossil971 · 26/11/2013 23:09

Levi 501's with a 36 inch inside leg. Chinos from Gap. Doesn't do smart Grin!
TK Maxx and outlet places are good for a rummage, he got a lovely Paul Smith jumper once that was long in the body and sleeves Envy.

Felix90 · 26/11/2013 23:11

Trinity it's horrible isn't it, freaks me out big time! Especially when he insists on picking things up off the floor with his long monkey toes Confused

Delilahlilah · 26/11/2013 23:13

Slaters menswear. They even do free alterations to any of the clothes they sell. Excellent shop, perfect service every time.

trinitybleu · 26/11/2013 23:14

oh no, feet always covered here. we both hate them! he's having an op soon to remove the joint on his little toe and fuse the bones together ... suspect no shoes / socks for a while Sad Smile.

BobaFetaCheese · 26/11/2013 23:14

Lands End for whatever length trousers you want.

Slight but those recommending places for trousers/jeans...are your OH's of tree trunk sized legs?
DH used to fit 501's perfectly but he can't fit his stupidly muscular thighs into skinny cut jeans.

trinitybleu · 26/11/2013 23:18

Slaters tailors cannot cope with concept of small waist / wide hips. No matter how clearly the Sales Asst writes "take in 4in off waist only, do not take in along whole bum seam" they take in 4 inches down the whole bloody lot rather than a sharp taper.

Thankfully, now know a good tailor and she does them for him!

trinitybleu · 26/11/2013 23:19

Yes Boba. Think his latest Levis are 510's but can check.

2whippetsnobed · 27/11/2013 07:37

My dh has size 15 feet. He buys almost all shoes from eBay.

Lancelottie · 27/11/2013 10:20

Landsend only used to go up to 36" unfinished, Boba -- has that changed? (DH has 38" leg.)

Thanks for car advice above!

crankbadger · 27/11/2013 10:25

Does anyone know where to find outlandishly huge socks?? Dh has size 14 feet that are also really wide (flippers, basically) and can never find socks that fit.

Lancelottie · 27/11/2013 11:19

Are these socks any good to him, Crankbadger? M&S also do a size 12-14 but that might be too narrow.

Rowgtfc72 · 27/11/2013 11:27

Mil rang the other night to say debenhams do up to 4 xl. Dh is 6ft6 but is long in the body and arms. Jacamo are OK but just cos he has long arms doesn't mean he has the width round the middle as well! Luckily only size 10 feet.we have a Vauxhall vectra, he practically sits in the back. Dd is the same in 11-12 clothes at 6. Average legs,,long back, absolute nightmare to get clothes for.

2whippetsnobed · 27/11/2013 12:13

Would recommend the M&S socks as that is what my dh buys. Wash well and keep their shape and size.

whatshallwedo · 27/11/2013 12:26

Jacamo and Slaters here as they are more reasonably priced for casual day clothes.

magimedi · 27/11/2013 12:37

For shoes & socks try Walk Tall

www.walktall.co.uk/

Up to size 19 shoes!!! DH is a 13 & has used them & was very pleased.

They do a wide range of socks as wel..

ISingSoprano · 27/11/2013 12:43

Dh is 6'5" with freakishly long arms and he finds Crew Clothing good for casual shirts.

soaccidentprone · 27/11/2013 13:41

try here

trinitybleu · 27/11/2013 15:09

crank the M&S size 12 - 14 fit my wide footed size 15er fine

BadgersRetreat · 27/11/2013 15:14

TM Lewin do 38" arm shirts (only place i have found them). They are fantastic quality and have excellent online sales.

i got DH 5 shirts for a hundred quid last Christmas. They are normally about 70 quid a shirt.

DH is 6'4" with arms like a gibbon Grin

Felix90 · 27/11/2013 15:14

I never even thought about cars for the super long man! I think we are quite lucky as OH is 6ft 4 so not as tall as others mentioned here. When I first met him he had a banged up old Corsa that only just fit his legs in Grin I always think about booking him one of those supercar experience days for his birthday but think he'd be too tall to drive a Ferrari or something similar.

fossil971 · 27/11/2013 15:43

It's not so much the tall person fitting in the car, but no hope of someone managing to sit in the back seat behind them.

looselegs · 27/11/2013 19:09

John Banks big and tall menswear.Up to 38" inside leg.

BoneyBackJefferson · 27/11/2013 20:01
