Help me find a dress! But... it's not as easy as that!
I can't be too over the top as there is only one other girl i work with in my department and she says she will wear jeans and top....
All the other girls in other departments HR etc always get very dressed up, big hair, lots of makeup, high heels etc etc
I want to look like im going to a party but dont want to look too fancy or too casual. Also, the guys in my department always seem to comment on my dress style, whether they like it or dont like it and also i have caught them checking out my chest :( So.. i also don't want it to be too revealing but do want to look good.
Help, please help! Im size 14, hourglass.
Oh and the party lunch starts at 1 or something so will have to go to work in it at 7.30am!!!

Ebay, my mum got my dress and her dress from there for my sisters wedding, my dress was nice not too showy, was a coast dress and cost £11.

CocacolaMum · 16/11/2013 19:23

what about this? you could wear a cardi over it during the day and then jazz it up in the evening with some jewellery or something? direct.asda.com/george/womens/dresses/moda-jacquard-fit-flare-dress/G004456477,default,pd.html

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/11/2013 19:25

So it's a lunch party? What will it involve? What colours do you like?

DrHolmes · 16/11/2013 19:26

You know Coca that is actually quite nice and yeah totally could make it jazzier for later on with sparkly shoes and necklace. I am impressed at George there!

Lucius - I don't really like using ebay. Find it hard to scroll through all the stuff!

It starts as a lunch party and then everyone will go out to the bars in the city and then in the evening a club is rented out for us.

I like black, gold, royal blue, silver, red.

This would be nice and good for daytime- sparkle it up with drop earrings and clutch for evening.

welshnat · 16/11/2013 19:30

Might not matter but what age range are you? Personally I think a black dress is not very christmassy, how are you with colour?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/11/2013 19:30

Ooh, that's nice, Tethers.

tethersend · 16/11/2013 19:32

ditto

CocacolaMum · 16/11/2013 19:33

it might not be Christmassy but it is more versatile and easier to accessorize for both parts of the day.

Its nice in real life too DrHolmes, I was actually going to the site to link you to this one which is also nice in real life but its out of stock direct.asda.com/george/womens/dresses/chiffon-drape-dress/GEM289669,default,pd.html

SkinnybitchWannabe · 16/11/2013 19:34

Asda is great. New Look will have loads of partywear.
Btw, you have my dream figure Grin

Punkatheart · 16/11/2013 19:35

I would go to a vintage shop. I don't know where you are based but they are everywhere and they really have some unique, fab things.

hollowhallows · 16/11/2013 19:35

I am same size and body type as you OP and found a fab dress in topshop last week.

Cant link as on phone but its product code is 10A14E and i bought it in both cream and black but it comes in lots of colours. Its very flattering and would suit day or dressed up for evening.

How about this? It's in red or black and think it can be dressed up quite easily. Although if you're short like me you may not like the length...not complimentary for for midget legs like mine lol.

DrHolmes · 16/11/2013 19:37

I am 27 welsh

Unforuntely tether i think that the first one will stick to me too much and show my lumps and bumps.
Love the 2nd one though.! The colour does really suit me.

No Coca don't like the second one you've linked, sorry.

This looks nice, if you don't object to polyester. You could wear a blazer over it in the morning.

Bogeyface · 16/11/2013 19:37

I love this, am thinking of buying it. OK for commuting, but with nice shoes, bag etc, elegant for partying! I have a sizeable upstairs, so I find that things like this are good, gives me a cleavage but keeps it covered enough to be decent!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/11/2013 19:38

Love this too but polyester again

NotYouNaanBread · 16/11/2013 19:39

Asos. Billions of pretty dresses for £25 - £55.

welshnat · 16/11/2013 19:39

Sorry

Have you checked TK Maxx? I got a gorgeous emerald green velvet & chiffon cocktail dress from there for Christmas do's, which they also had in sapphire and plum, for £30.

I stuck in your size and price range on their online shop and loads of nice things came up:

This red and black with short sleeves should be flattering bust wise
