Is this a nice dress for a Big Party? If not, what is?

black dress

I am looking for something to wear to my (shh) 50th b/day party early next year. I am size 14 or so, big boobs (so no strapless!) and 5ft 6 tall. Don't want maxi really as I am not that tall. OTOH I do want to lok glamorous and fab in a way I never normally do.

Oh and I'd like to do it for £100 ish!

TIA x

That is gorgeous, buy it!

StealthPolarBear · 10/11/2013 06:51

Wow, yes!

PrimalLass · 10/11/2013 08:25

Hmm no, not for me. I think it's a bit frumpy.

LordPalmerston · 10/11/2013 08:26

No. Too mother of the bride

tvstand · 10/11/2013 08:30

Like!

RubySparks · 10/11/2013 08:34

Dress is lovely but needs glam accessories or a brighter colour! What about this one - www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_008010818542_-1

LordPalmerston · 10/11/2013 08:54

Just.

Not.

Debenhams

LordPalmerston · 10/11/2013 08:54

No to the blue one. Bridesmaids

MrsCampbellBlack · 10/11/2013 08:56

I think you could find nicer to be honest.

I think I'd go for something a bit more structured. There are loads of party dresses in the shops at the moment - I'd just go and try loads on.

BunnyLebowski · 10/11/2013 08:56

I really don't like it.

It's very boring and, as said above, frumpy.

50 is not in any way old - don't dress like a pensioner on a cruise!

Will have a look.

The blue one is truly dreadful btw.

LordPalmerston · 10/11/2013 08:57

Get sleeves

MrsCampbellBlack · 10/11/2013 09:00

something like this?

MrsCampbellBlack · 10/11/2013 09:01

Bunny - don't hold back Wink

dvf rip off

cece · 10/11/2013 09:16

I am similar height with big boobs and heading for 50 also.

I would go for something like these - I agree the one you linked to is a bit frumpy

black

lace

my fav, also in black

blue

red

That's just from John Lewis

RubySparks · 10/11/2013 09:20

Hmm OK I see the bridesmaid thing now....

clary · 10/11/2013 10:44

LOL @ pensioner on a cruise!

I can't do anything strappy like Ruby's or a couple of cece's as I need a bra. But I am liking those lace ones. Right I need to go and try some on.

Any more ideas well received. Am off to footy now but will look later.

Wot's wrong with Debenhams btw LordPalmerston?

I wore this dress in red for my 40th last year- it also comes with long sleeves. I'm also size 14. It is a proper WOW dress. More than one person actually said it...

clary · 10/11/2013 21:47

That's a lovely dress flashheart but what's holding my boobs up? Grin

it works fine with a bra, the shoulders can be as bare (or not) as you like. (control knickers-optional!)

BillyBanter · 10/11/2013 21:53

Something like this? Comes in a variety of colours.
