M and S girl's tee shirt design...could be misinterpreted?

I was in M and S last week when my eye was caught by one particular design on a child's tee shirt. I was in a hurry so couldn't stop and look more closely at the time. But when I checked the M and S website at home, my first impression was confirmed - the Autograph 'Shoes' design looks, well, phallic to me!
What do others think?

I emailed the company to point this out and they replied: '....
At M&S, we do our best to offer a choice that reflects the varying requirements of our younger customers, and of course the family and friends who buy their clothes. I assure you we would never intentionally incorporate any sexual content or images into any of our products, be they from our children's range or our adult's range.

It is certainly helpful to have received your comments and I have passed them straight on to our Childrenswear team. I know they will give all due consideration to your views when they review the design on this t-shirt and also for future products.'

They do look a bit willy-like! But not sure I'd go as far as contacting them over it.

remember years ago supplying a very very large chain store some My Little Pony knickers for little girls. The pony was neatly positioned on the front and was called Lickety Split.....they made it onto the shop floor

I could see it - because I looked and did that squinty thing you do with those pictures where pictures are hidden.

But no - not immediately phallic. My first thought was how crap the shoes were tbh!

If you hadn't have said that they were supposed to be shoes or that you thought they looked phallic then TBH I would have been scratching my head wondering WTF the design was.

Pretty crap design if you ask me. Look out for that top in the next sale as you can guarantee they'll have loads left!

I kind of see it, but only because it's been pointed out.

It's a really ugly t-shirt though.

I can see how they could be seen as phallic but actually the design just looks rubbish - not particularly like shoes - not particularly like willies - not particularly like anything, just bizarre elongated potatoes with red bits.

This thread reminds me of my friend who did a double-take while walking past Next. She had spotted a t-shirt in the window that said (boak) "Go on... spoil me."
