Help me choose a stylish but also long and very warm coat for standing around rugby pitches?

Can anyone recommend one? After today, I have realised that it has to cover my bottom (not yet defrosted) but beyond that I can't decide what sort.

I quite like this Zara one

and this one claims to be waterproof

Which do you like best? I'd like a furry hoodSmile

Go for waterproof (speaking from experience of cold, wet, windswept rugby pitches!!).

alwaysneedaholiday · 12/10/2013 18:22

I don't think you can beat a north face long coat, complete with furry hood. £££ though.

I have this Zara one and its so warm. Not worn it in the rain yet so don't know if its waterproof but I love it.

Give up on the photo. It's Zara navy puffa jacket.

I can see the photos, it's lovely.

casacastille · 12/10/2013 20:52

Like that. I saw a cream puffer in Zara but that one looks longer. Has it got a hood in that collar?

iam a veteran

DO NOT MESS WITH FASHION
you need a North face

you need gloves, you need tights under jeans, you need thermal BOOTS

FreeButtonBee · 12/10/2013 21:02

I finally succumbed to the aigle Cuckmere. It is DELICIOUS. I love it. Covers bum, big hood, belt at waist, warm as toast. It's worth every penny.

I had a Zara down one before and the zip was always crap plus it moulted feathers all the time. It did convince me that a proper one was worth the money.

casacastille · 12/10/2013 21:07

What? Not even a teeny bit of style?

I'd sort of hoped to find a multi tasker for pitchside warmth / depths-of-winter city chic.

Not possible?

it is possibly but dont go to zara - their coats are shit

casacastille · 12/10/2013 21:16

Oh can't be doing with dodgy zips. That Aigle coat is lovely. But 300 quidShock

North Face just as £££Sad

PervCat · 12/10/2013 21:16

we are all telling you - cool it up with a hat and scarf and not shivering

ShoeWhore · 12/10/2013 21:17

That Zara one is much more stylish in the flesh than it looks in the photo. It's belted for a start. I've just bought it in
dark khaki

I don't think the zara one you linked to looks warm enough sorry (although I could be wrong)

ShoeWhore · 12/10/2013 21:17

Yes there is a hood in the collar but it's not amazing.

Trifle · 12/10/2013 21:18

It's got to be fur, I'll be on the sidelines in my mink coat.

PervCat · 12/10/2013 21:19

i tried to do it with a lands end one

one rugby festival in chippenham on mothers day when i WEPT with cold. and i said FUCK IT and came home and ordered the north face one

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 12/10/2013 21:20

Lands End is your (unstylish) friend Smile

casacastille · 12/10/2013 21:20

I have perfect boots at least. Not that I wore them today (error)

So I need to save a bit more cash then.

I know. But I spent 90 on a Zara one and it was shitola.

Aigle is strokable. Has a furry hood. Is awesome. I like the north face ones too but since I am not on the sidelines just yet, I went for slightly less utility and a bit more style.

Also heattech thermals are great. Oh and smartwool socks are brill too. Keep my feet warm while sitting beside my twins' cots while they refuse to sleep for hours on end in the middle of the night ina draughts victorian terrace. Should be A-okay for sports watching.

suebfg · 12/10/2013 21:22

Check out the Aigle Cuckmere but note that the hood trim is real fur. It is a fab coat though
