It's this shoes and beads thing again I'm afraid. I have got the black and white shirt dress (Miss Selfridge, Geo Print Dress, in dress section) and was advised to try green shoes and beads - the only place I can find green ballet pumps is Top Shop and they are a really paintbox vivid green colour. I am not convinced I can pull it off.

They did have lovely teal / turquoise patent ballet pumps, and lovely beads in similar shade. Would that be any good?

If not, is red definitely out? Black and white and red seems to be everywhere.

Or if I wear black shoes (tried the ribbon lace ballet shoes and didn't like them), can I wear bright beads or will that not work?

Oh help, I wish I had stuck to something straightforward now

can't you wear black shoes and beads?

I don't like colour with black and white myself
(am no style guru I just htink it looks silly)

I saw some darkish green ballet-esque flats in Gap which might do the job.

I could wear black CD, but I am a bit notorious for wearing black all the time, and am trying very very hard to wear outfits with colour in. I thought black and white and a colour could look really chic if I got the right accessories.

Hmm, I am very confused with all the shades of green, cupcakes I just wanted an emerald sort of shade but the Top Shop ones are the brightest green you can imagine.

oh - what shops do you have nearby?

personally am not keen on black and white and red - too russian constructivist for me. also i think the dress is quite a statement anyway ( in a good way you understand) so you don't need crazy shoes.

i always end up panic buying for wedding outfits - sometimes on the day of the event itself - usually something i never wear again. so, do you have anything already that would work? have you got a bag? or did they have anything gold or silver in topshop maybe?

Nah, I don't do bags. I do see what you mean about the dress being a statement Don't fancy gold or silver, I don't think.

I have black ballet pumps, could I wear a coloured necklace or would it have to be black?

Oh and it's not for a fancy occasion - just don't want to be the frumpy one in the corner as usual when all my family get together

no bag! - where do you keep your lippy?
i think you could wear any jewels with it if shoes are black. the teal might look great - can you try it all together before you buy?

MrsBadger · 28/06/2006 19:06

teal sounds good

if black shoes would go for a not-too-bright necklace, not chunky beads, but something a bit more delicate - maybe a chain with black or white dangly pendant? or one that's a bit glittery all the way round?
