Another 'which tights with this dress' please

This is the dress in black. Shoes will probably be suede wedges, peep toe. Doesn't sound great but they are really pretty and elegant. So I'm thinking black fish nets - what do you all think?

It's for a work 'gala dinner', so needs to be smartish....

Thanks! :)

fine black fishnets maybe not the hooker type.

I'd prefer nude glossies but that's me and the ones which are sandal toe type unless you're going sans peep toes.

also - if you're doing spray etc tan you could easily get away with no tights.

doineedhelp · 26/09/2013 12:42

it sounds like it could work but what about the peep toe showing the seam of the tights? I thought this was a no-no??

MissDD1971 · 26/09/2013 12:42

or if not glossies the sort with a fine sheen on them

MissDD1971 · 26/09/2013 12:43

you could also maybe do nude fishnets (fine again) which would make problem of showing toes less obvious

LaCerbiatta · 26/09/2013 13:32

Thanks! Will buy both and try I think. I'm worried the nude ones will look to officey and not very 'gala dinner'....

you could well look (I saw them in local dept store) for the more glitzy tights - you know with diamante/glitter etc which are very gala.

they may well be up your street and I think you can get sheer ones etc.

The nude ones with me - it's all about the finish - hence gloss/sheen. if you get matte then they're more office.

MissDD1971 · 26/09/2013 13:38

oh also PS - be careful if you do get the sandal toe ones (I got some where it had some weird strap/piece of material for inbetween or hooking round toes which was great only you could see it with my strappy sandals.

wasted £7 upwards on those tights! and I felt a bit deformed in them...

moondog · 26/09/2013 14:34

The dress is navy isn't it?
I'd do navy tights (very sheer) or nude fishnets and a really colourful pair if shoes.
I don't think navy and black look good together unless you are very careful and uber stylish (maybe you are?)

MissDD1971 · 26/09/2013 15:35

moonpig - it's black!

personally I think fine nude fishnets (expensive ones!) may do the trick.

moondog · 26/09/2013 15:43

Ah sorry, so it is.
Deffo coloured shoes though

SarahGoodwin33 · 26/09/2013 16:01

peephole are ok with sandal toe nude tights, I wear that combo quite a bit. Any sort of patterned tights or fishnets with peep toe don't look that nice.

LaCerbiatta · 26/09/2013 16:12

Thanks!
I'm getting a new phone tomorrow with a working camera so can upload a picture of the shoes to see what you all think.

MissDD1971 · 27/09/2013 09:46

SarahGoodwin33 ime depends on the fishnets - if they're EXPENSIVE and fine knit then they can work quite well with peep toe. the normal fishnets I'd say no to.

FauxFox · 27/09/2013 11:08

Don't wear wedges to a posh evening do. Wedges are for daytime, summer maxi dresses and not sinking into gravel/grass at weddings/races. Not for gala dinners.

I'd do nude tights (or none) and wow shoes with matching fingernails.

MissDD1971 · 27/09/2013 11:18

FauxFox - you can do wedges - e.g. posh suede wedges. However I wouldn't really do them, I agree.

I'd go for a nice closed shoe - even those ones with bows (the ribbon type at sides) - which aren't cheap (ones I've seen) but are a nice evening shoe and to be honest, an investment. You can get tons of shoes which are evening with nice heels and not ones you tend to break your neck in. Smile

PostBellumBugsy · 27/09/2013 11:23

The dress is very nice, but given it is not over the top dressy, I'd be inclined to go for glossy sheer tights & the smartest shoes I had. I'm not sure it is the kind of dress that goes with fishnets, but that's just my opinion, so feel free to ignore.
Don't forget to add necklace & bracelet!
Hope you have fun.

LaCerbiatta · 27/09/2013 11:59

Thanks all! Will try to post a pic of the shoes later. I agree that the dress is not too smart so needs good shots....

these ones from wallis
or these

Twinklestein · 27/09/2013 12:05

Definitely not fishnets for a work do.

Definitely not bare legs.

Another vote for glossy nudes.

LaCerbiatta · 27/09/2013 18:27

Hmmm they might work, thank you!

onyerbike · 27/09/2013 18:33

The dress is lovely.

Fishnets are never a good look, i've seen very stunning women look like shit wearing fishnets....,don't do it..

LaCerbiatta · 29/09/2013 18:38

Here are the shoes. Let's see if pic works!
