Nude shoes with black dress?

peachesandpickles · 24/09/2013 17:04

I have trouble buying shoes (wide, hideous feet) and I was browsing in a shoe shop yesterday when the unthinkable happened. I found shoes that fit.

They were wide fitting, only one style in stock but they had black, red and nude.

I need comfortable dressy-ish shoes to wear this weekend.

I would have loved all 3 colours but couldn't afford them.

I went with the nude as the most versatile but now I am wavering. Most of my dressy clothes are black but I do have a few things that don't suit black shoes.

Will nude work with black?

Yes, IMO as long as you wear natural coloured tights :-)

Nude and black working its butt off

MrsKoala · 24/09/2013 18:57

Nude shoes work with most things and make your legs look longer - win win :)

Can you link them?

tethersend · 24/09/2013 18:59

Red shoes and a black dress looks great...

peachesandpickles · 24/09/2013 19:10

I am a bit afraid to link them. Killer heels they definitely are not!

But then again, when you consider how difficult it is to find wide fitting shoes they are not bad.

Oh i like them - very 40s vintage. What length is the hem of the dress? What is the style of the dress?

peachesandpickles · 24/09/2013 19:42

I have lots of dresses! I always find shoes the biggest problem.

maybe this one

I am quite short so it's just above the knee.

just comes up with a main page - Is it the Judy Party dress? (the only black one there)

LeoandBoosmum · 24/09/2013 19:49

Love dangerously - exchange for the red! Red shoes look great with a black dress! The pop of colour really enlivens the outfit and keeps it from being boring! Wear simple silver jewellery with the ensemble :)

LeoandBoosmum · 24/09/2013 19:49

Ha ha! What a faux pas Grin Obviously, I meant LIVE dangerously!

peachesandpickles · 24/09/2013 19:49

Weird. Maybe it's because it is out of stock.

Try again

Definitely red shoes with that dress.

Nude shoes ok with nude legs, otherwise ( and actually, even then sometimes) I think they can look like a prosthetic foot.

dexter73 · 24/09/2013 19:59

Definitely go for red. I think nude shoes are a bit meh.

peachesandpickles · 24/09/2013 20:06

I might keep the nude and splash out on the red. They were lovely.

I could wear the red with black dresses and nude ones with everything else.

They'll practically pay for themselves. *insert self deluding emoticon here

those shoes are not nice

in any colour

MrsKoala · 24/09/2013 20:11

I think both red and nude would look good with that dress. It would depend on whether it was glam or demure i was going for. (and i love the dress even tho i don't wear black). If you are short then nude really do elongate legs and with a tee-bar your legs are shortened so a a bright colour may 'chop your foot off'.

I know what you mean BikeRunSki - it has to be the right shade of nude to match skin tone otherwise it can look odd. I always like a more pinky and patent nude (i think Dune did some lovely ones a while back).

If the shoe has to be versatile i think nude is best, but for just one outfit i love red (i have 5 pairs of red shoes btw). I wear flesh coloured fishnets/patterened tights with my nude shoes as well as bare legs and nude tights.

Andcake · 24/09/2013 20:14

Red red red - treat your self and buy the red too. I think nude are a bit dull. The red will go well with black, navy etc.

peachesandpickles · 24/09/2013 20:18

betsy Thanks for your opinion. I did say in my post that I have wide feet and struggle to buy dressy shoes. Would love alternative suggestions if you have any.

Karbea · 24/09/2013 20:22

I think coloured shoes look lovely with lbds, I think you'd need to put the red shoe next to the red in the dress to make sure they don't clash.

peachesandpickles · 24/09/2013 20:24

I have strange feet. I can wear some regular fit shoes but with others an E can feel narrow. Really need to try them on. Not in UK and live in middle of no where. Cost of returning by post is ruinous.

Will try M&S next time I get to somewhere with shops.
