You all are full of great ideas, and I can't decide what I want so hoped you'd be able to help. I am going to a family wedding, and I have the dress sorted, but need to get shoes/bag/jewellery.

The dress is from Zara, and is cream, with a brown floral print, in a cotton silk mix. It is very 50's in style, wide boat neck, full skirt, and a sash style belt in cream with brown polka dots. I also have a very pretty brown linen V necked wrapover jacket with a ruffle around the neck and elbow length sleeves.

I want to have some brightly coloured shoes and bag, not matching, any ideas? Also what jewellery?

TIA

UberCodofWashingFame · 23/06/2006 18:35

no it aint

womblingalong · 23/06/2006 18:43

Thanks Cod,

I like the shape of the bag, but thought about a bright colour to funk up the brown and cream a bit, feel it's a bit dull for a summer wedding. Would you do red or pink?

(I couldn't find it on the Zara website tho)

I think a strong red can look good with brown and cream. not too pinky red though, a warmer tone. nailpolishes red shoes on her thread are lovely.

zoeuk1 · 23/06/2006 21:02

i was going to suggest green too. you could even go for a brighter apple or jade green.

womblingalong · 24/06/2006 00:33

Thanks guys,

I was thinking green or red as options myself. Anyone seen anything suitable or got any other ideas?

fingers crossed!

I vote for red! But not a scarlet red, a bit richer than that

FrannyandZooey · 24/06/2006 10:22

I wear red with brown and I think it looks nice, but I am not always highly skilled at colour matching.

A friend who always looks very striking and 'together' wore fuschia pink accessories with a brown dress the other day and I thought that looked fab too.

womblingalong · 25/06/2006 18:41

Thanks for these. F&Z I was thinking doing fuschia pink or red shoes and a bright green handbag, as I think some clashing accessories might make the outfit look a bit more funky IYKWIM. I agree Mouise, a rich red could look fab too. Right off to the shops I go!

Thanks!

just a vote of utter jealousy, because I love that dress and lusted after it in Zara for weeks, but when I tried it on it made my arse look colossal.

Personally I'd put cream or dark brown with it (because I'm dull like that), but think a really rich red would look great. Not sure about funking it up - seemed rather to need a slosh of post-modern irony to me. Maybe a slouchy gold bag?

womblingalong · 26/06/2006 15:05

Mrs B,

Prob makes myb arse look colossal too, but I don't care!! I love it too much to worry about it.

I suppose that bringing it up to date was what I was trying to do. You've given me some more food for thought (ponders) Hmm I do have a gold bag, but very small clutch style, not slouchy. Will have a look at a few different ideas at the shops. Unless anyone knows where I gan get suitable stuff on the net?

Dune

mazzystar linked me to the Dune website the other day, and i love it

you should find something to match here!

most of the bags and shoes come in 2 or 3 other colours

nailpolish · 26/06/2006 15:15

bag

shoes

nailpolish · 26/06/2006 15:15

matching bag and shoes a must for a wedding imo

womblingalong · 26/06/2006 15:19

NP,

Thanks, the site looks great, I think the shoes may not fit my super wide feet, will need to try on , and I love some of the bags you linked to esp the woven gold clutch.

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 26/06/2006 15:32

love the bronze shoes with ribbon detail , and the matching bag , but appreciate they don't add much colour to the ensemble.
Like the turqouise ones np suggested, and the red patent clutch mentioned on another thread is a corker.

fairyjay · 26/06/2006 15:35

Turquoise would be v. trendy with brown/cream, I like the fuschia pink idea - or bright orange!

noddyholder · 26/06/2006 15:37

Green would be lovely but so would a firey orange or deep greeny blue.I think you are right not to match them lokks a bit'old'
