You all are full of great ideas, and I can't decide what I want so hoped you'd be able to help. I am going to a family wedding, and I have the dress sorted, but need to get shoes/bag/jewellery.

The dress is from Zara, and is cream, with a brown floral print, in a cotton silk mix. It is very 50's in style, wide boat neck, full skirt, and a sash style belt in cream with brown polka dots. I also have a very pretty brown linen V necked wrapover jacket with a ruffle around the neck and elbow length sleeves.

I want to have some brightly coloured shoes and bag, not matching, any ideas? Also what jewellery?

TIA

matching bag and shoes is not 'old'!!!!!!!!!

its for a wedding ffs

Why do you have to say ffs instead of just giving your opinion on wedding attire I think it looks a bit dated you don't hardly grounds for a ffs

noddyholder · 26/06/2006 17:27

btw if you look at the opening post she asked for not matching

womblingalong · 26/06/2006 17:35

Am loving that red patent clutch Mrs B, and I know what you mean about matching NP, but I feel old and frumpy as it is, and the dress is very ladylike, so I wanted to break it up by not matching IYKWIM. But I appreciate all of the advice from everyone, keep it coming please!

I wonder if the word we're looking for is 'co-ordinating' or 'toning' rather than 'matching set'?

With an outfit in such subtle colours, opposing bright colours for shoes and bag run the risk of overpowering the very lovely dress, but similarly something too 'matched' might make it look a bit... prissy? (so I take back my earlier recommendation of the bronze ribboned bag and shoes).
The turquoise bag with bronze beading would look fab with either plain turquoise or plain bronze shoes.

Personally I love the dress so much I'd use very simple cream or straw / raffia accessories and let the dress speak for itself but (as I have mentioned) I am not as cool as Wombling.

Me - cool Mrs B, I wish! Maybe I'm being a bit mutton with the clashing, I did love the shoes and bag you suggested too, although I'm obviously not as soignee and Audrey Hepburn as you .
