Are these shoes gorgeous or am I blinded by the name?

I think I want these for my autumn shoes.
DH thinks I'm seeing them through Rosie-tinted glasses (I'm a Rosie):

They are not my kind of thing, but I think they are a very nice example of that kind of shoe that looks really good on someone who dresses differently to me.

If they fit in with your wardrobe, I say go for it!

pictish · 15/09/2013 23:59

Exactly what card said. I am not fond of brogues, but if you are, they are very nice brogues.

MmmmWhiteWine · 15/09/2013 23:59

Not for me, I'm afraid

Elsiequadrille · 16/09/2013 00:02

I couldn't carry them off, but on the right person they could look well.

MichelleRouxJnr · 16/09/2013 00:03

Thank you.
I'm not usually a brogues wearer - I just think they're lovely shoes.
Think I'll go to the shop and try them on rather than make an online purchase.
Never too late to become a brogue-ie, eh? (even at 38?)

VestaCurry · 16/09/2013 00:03

I like brogues but not those for some reason

EdwiniasRevenge · 16/09/2013 00:11

They look like mens shoes to me

MrsCakesPremonition · 16/09/2013 00:16

The first picture was a bit of a shock as it looked like a giant clown's shoe. But they improved when I saw them on the model's feet.
They are OK if you like brogues.

LCHammer · 16/09/2013 00:17

Not keen.

BackforGood · 16/09/2013 00:20

I have to say, they look like men's shoes to me, from the picture.

MichelleRouxJnr · 16/09/2013 00:23

Ah you're brilliant.
I really thought I wanted these but actually can't really afford another pair of shoes right now - you've convinced me thay ain't all that!
Thank you.

Ooh I actually have these. They are quite thin and light compared to my other brogues which are Clark's hamble oaks. I get sore feet in them when I walk a lot as they aren't v padded. But they are lovely - proper brogues and so kinda mannish but not clumpy. I must say tho that that over time I love the Clark's brogues more

LostMarbles99 · 16/09/2013 07:25

My dh would like them!

not helpful

PeacockPlumage · 16/09/2013 07:32

Bit of a shock after your op! They look like men's shoes to me, and definitely not something I could carry off. Weare all different though.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 16/09/2013 07:59

As brogues go, they are probably the closest thing I've seen to mens shoes, so not for me. If you like them then that's all that matters really.

snowlie · 16/09/2013 08:16

I like brogues, I particularly like shoes with a good toe and these curl up slightly which is a good thing in a brogue. I love mixing feminine and masculine styles, but my very pink 10 year old is horrified with anything boyish!

BikeRunSki · 16/09/2013 08:24

I love them! Now I am cross I wore my new Clark's Brogues outside for the first time yesterday!

GobblersKnob · 16/09/2013 09:10

I am not normally a brogue fan, but they could convert me, they are gorgeous.

iliketea · 16/09/2013 09:12

I love them, but i've got 2 pairs of clarks hamble oaks brogues in different colours, so i love brogues.

CatAmongThePigeons · 16/09/2013 09:14

I'm not a brogue fan, they're too far into masculinity for me personally (being just shy of 6' and size 8 shoe)

SundaySimmons · 16/09/2013 09:53

Think Diane Keaton, well that's how I imagine I would look like in them. Male styling but classy and feminine.

Then reality kicks in and I realise I would look like I was wearing my dads shoes which isn't a good thing as he is 72.

charitygirl · 16/09/2013 10:05

I'm a dedicated brogue-ist, and they look
good to me, but I think Office have a better selection.

'Pah!' to 'look like men's shoes'!

superkatee · 16/09/2013 13:10

I love brogues. I bought a pair recently from dotty p's and they are black with gold studs love them. Not masculine at all!

www.dorothyperkins.com/en/dpuk/product/shoes-203538/flats-1979102/brogues-loafers-2058604/black-lace-up-brogues-2095132?refinements=category~%5b230031%7c208739%5d&bi=1&ps=20

^ Mine are are basically those with tiny god studs - was lucky and got them in the sale in store.

But I'm not a huge fan of these ones, I know brogues are suppose to be vintage but those look like something my grandma would wear!

moondog · 16/09/2013 13:11

They are a bit scary 30s lesbian in tweed three piece, no?
(Might be the look you are after though.)

Pandsbear · 16/09/2013 13:16

I like them! Would want to see them though in case they are pretend brogues and all light soles and rubbish leather.
