Have you seen the new Kettlewell catalogue???

Oh dear, its awful.

I was put onto Kettlewell by HoC when I had my colours done, and it has been useful for some of the basics. So when the new catalogue dropped through my letterbox this morning, with lots of new style in it I was really hopeful that I'd be able to find some great new things in my colours. But the new styles they have come up with are all just sooooo wrong.

Maybe I am just a bit young for them (40 yrs)?

I'm 50 but even I thought a lot of their new stuff was so uninspiring and the prints vile. I like their plain stuff and love their maxi skirts whcih swish around beautifully when I walk. The A/W 2013 was a huge disappointment to me too.

charitygirl · 07/09/2013 15:53

Well, the vast majority I (35) find frumpy. My mum likes a lot of it (and my unfounded feeling is that most colour clients are older). But I do like the asymmetric neck top (I have the short sleeve) version, and the merino knitwear looks ok (though expensive).

Sonotkylie · 07/09/2013 20:23

Thank you. It arrived this morning here too but I had forgotten about it. Have just had a really good laugh. I hope I shall always be too young! (OK there were a couple of plain tops that could be OK and a scarf thing too but overall - just plain wrong). Go on - stop sticking up for them and laugh. They'll still get the odd order from me when I can't find the right colour to go with something else but I don't think I'm Kettlewell woman.

snail1973 · 07/09/2013 21:50

its so disappointing. Their concept is a good one, but the execution is just all wrong. I mean what were they thinking with those textured tops, the crinkle shirts and that vile Luella top???

So disappointing, as the colours are great. They would get custom from me and probably many other MNetters if they just did good value, well-designed basics in natural fabrics. MNHQ should get them in for a webchat or do some focus groups. Surely we're their target market?

The only thing I liked was the asymmetrical top, but £39 is a bit steep for an everyday top.

dueindecember10 · 08/09/2013 08:21

Truly shocking! I've bought a few basic t shirts but on the whole it is a very old fashioned collection. Think they need some fresh blood to mix things up a bit as love the concept just not the execution!

EarlyIntheMorning · 08/09/2013 08:26

It's in my recycling box, unwrapped

Screwfox · 08/09/2013 08:38

Lol at the styling. It's like something from the 80s. The fascinatirs. The luella top. I'd never seen it before. Foot glove tastic

Screwfox · 08/09/2013 08:40

The dark model looks like she's stepped off a @naighty neighbour" pork film with her poses. NONE of the clothes even go with each other

MrsCampbellBlack · 08/09/2013 08:40

Just looked. Well, I agree with whoever said that the whole colours thing does seem generally to be aimed at the more mature lady and I guess Kettlewell is targeting them.

BeginnerSAHM · 08/09/2013 08:43

I think it exemplifies all the negative associations with 'having your colours done'.... Am way too embarrassed to admit to it, especially as HoC recommend it Confused. Am never going to buy anything from it!

Screwfox · 08/09/2013 08:45

I think for me that's the new per una. The styling is brilliantly bad. Bet the bosses wife has done it

Screwfox · 08/09/2013 08:45

It's very golf club

Screwfox · 08/09/2013 08:45

Lol at pork film. Pork obv

WoolySocks · 08/09/2013 08:51

Totally agree BeginnerSAHM the clothes look frumpy and aren't styled well. Maybe I'm too young for them but I'd rather wear something stylish in black (not my colour) than one of those godawful crinkle shirts in one of my spring colours!

Roshbegosh · 08/09/2013 08:52

I agree, I bought a couple of basic tops but would have loved to have been able to stock up more, it was dreadful. The outfits were a joke, even pensioners don't dress that badly until they hit at least their mid 70's and the way things were put together was truly bafflingly bad. Maybe the CEO' daughter was doing the catalogue as a school project or something and trying to imagine what geriatrics would like.

KosherBacon · 08/09/2013 08:53

In the 80s my primary school teacher had her colours done and she was an autumn. She essentially dressed like the kettlewell catalogue but with shoulder pads.

noddyholder · 08/09/2013 08:56

Omg awful. Ad I suit colours in most ofthose seasons not just one.I think it's such an expensive con. It plays to women who are not confident with clothes and colour and turns you into a regional newsreader when a good friend can be a lot more helpful. Hideous. It is like the blood group diet manipulative bs

Roshbegosh · 08/09/2013 08:58

No offence but maybe a primary school teacher can get away with looking like a mad person, the rest of us would look ridiculous like those catalogue women. Bet they are cringing too.

Hopefully · 08/09/2013 09:18

Some of the styling and attempts at fashion is a bit scary, but the basics they do are so brilliant - wash and wear forever without losing their shape or colour at all. It's a shame that this catalogue hasn't really shown that as well as it could.

MarshaBrady · 08/09/2013 09:26

Have you all got this catalogue? Or is it online?

I only get the Boden one in Ocado deliveries and The White Company.

BeginnerSAHM · 08/09/2013 09:27

To be honest, I only saw a few bits hanging on a wrack at the consultant's house.... The sleeve lengths of the t-shirts looked a bit long but maybe the vests and long sleeved ts are ok ...Confused? The crinkled fabric and wrap stuff looked quite frumpy - to me, anyway. And I'd only wear t-shirt material trousers as PJs/round the house really.

MarshaBrady · 08/09/2013 09:28

I looked at the website and the pics there are very bad. The colours alone.

FoxPass · 08/09/2013 09:31

actually Shock at how bad it is. so frumpy and badly styled! I quite like the high necked top and asymmetric one but there is no way I'd pay nearly 40 quid for one. overpriced much?

that violet patterned skirt and top are vomitous. wtaf!

KosherBacon · 08/09/2013 09:37

My HoC consultant gave me the catalogue and advised the clothes were terrible but it was useful to look at for reminders of colours and some starter ideas for colour combining.
