Have you seen the new Kettlewell catalogue???

Oh dear, its awful.

I was put onto Kettlewell by HoC when I had my colours done, and it has been useful for some of the basics. So when the new catalogue dropped through my letterbox this morning, with lots of new style in it I was really hopeful that I'd be able to find some great new things in my colours. But the new styles they have come up with are all just sooooo wrong.

Maybe I am just a bit young for them (40 yrs)?

I'm tempted to agree with noddy on this one. Went to HOC 18m ago after having 2 babies back to back and just in need of a clothes kickstart. I actually feel less confident now than before, because there are so many colours (as a summer) that I 'can't' wear. I hate the summer palette for me. It makes me feel old. I want to be a Winter. I think I'll just pretend I am one, or maybe chuck my hoc stuff and wear whatever I like.

Screwfox · 09/09/2013 08:47

i went and was a bit Hmm about it but i have to admit it works for me
If people dont like it - fine , carry on as you are! There is no air of compulsion.

noddyholder · 09/09/2013 08:54

I think I would find it too limiting.

MrsCampbellBlack · 09/09/2013 10:03

But you don't stick to it rigidly do you Screwfox? I reckon most people instinctively 'like' colours that suit them.

I don't like any of the autumn type colours and good job as would look vile in most of them.

I have red hair and am always being directed to russets and greens by well meaning shop assistants! I can see why they do it and if I wanted to look like a scottish holiday brochure then I can see their point but its just not me. I look different throughout the year too and wear what suits me at the time. Think it could be good for someone who just has no confidence with colour.

noddyholder · 09/09/2013 10:14

I entered my description in an online one and it said no black or white and terracotta rust and green! ALl look terrible on me a(well green ok ish)

Gillybobs · 09/09/2013 10:23

I think the point that's missing there Noddy is that the palette of each season is so broad you can stick to it and still look completely different throughout the year. It's not at all limiting. That's just a myth out around on MN by people who've not had it done I reckon.
With red hair you could be a spring, I am and sound def don't suit russet or terracotta either : )

Gillybobs · 09/09/2013 10:25

Sorry about typos.bloody phone

noddyholder · 09/09/2013 10:27

I am happy for those it works for just not for me. I do know people who follow it and don't think they look any better than those who just do their own thing But enjoy! if it works

Screwfox · 09/09/2013 10:48

I know black makes me look tired. I only wear at night with loads of make up.
When I wear a colour that suits I always always get a comment. Odd but true

noddyholder · 09/09/2013 10:58

Black gets tricky I looked bad in it when I was about 40 but can wear it again now weird!

GurlwiththeCurl · 09/09/2013 20:10

Thanks to those who answered me. I feel a bit better now. Today I was dressed completely in Kettlewell from the Spring/Summer range and had loads of compliments for looking well. Quite amazing really when you know how ill I am and I wasn't wearing any make up at all. The colours really cheer me up, which is also great because this illness makes me very low mentally too.

BeginnerSAHM · 09/09/2013 22:21

Glad to hear it Gurl!! And sorry to hear you are ill... I think the right colours can make a real difference, especially to some people, so pleased to hear the whole HoC thing is working for you!
