Have you tried on your wedding dress since your big day?

Did it still fit? Did you like it just as much or did it make you think, "what was I wearing?". Or worse, "Look at the state of me now!"

I have just moved house and my wedding dress hasn't gone back up in the loft yet. I can see the box and really want go get the dress out and try it on, but I know I will be disappointed.

Would you recommend it or should I resist the urge?

MyBoys, loving the shoes idea. That's looking on the bright side. I'm sure my feet are no fatter Grin

Ooh lots who weigh less now. I was married in 1996 and my dress was a size 20. I charity shopped it a few years ago. I have lost weight in the last three years going from a 24/26 to a 12/14.

I try mine on every so often. Still fits. Still love it. Though was thinking yesterday that maybe I should give it to a charity shop (but don't think can part with it yet Blush).

No you shouldn't, PP. Keep it if it has sentimental value for you. Don't most keep people them? I hope one day DD can wear it but I guess by then it will be dated...

Mine is too big - got married in 1999 and I'm a stone and a half down from what I weighed then, anything between one and three dress sizes depending on shop and garment. It was a bit big on the day, but still very nice - does nothing for me now, doesn't hold anything I or up. It's never been cleaned - still has sticky toffee sauce on the bum. Grin

Jamee wouldn't it be ironic to try the shoes on now, only to discover that they are too big!! I am going to my mums to dig out my dress this weekend, quite excited about seeing it again as I don't think I have even looked at it since my wedding.

Mine is sitting in its box in my bedroom as we speak. I got it out for DD 15 to try on for a laugh. It fits like a glove . She looked beautiful. It still fits me too and I still like it 25 years on.

I've worn mine several times since the wedding (11 years ago). It isn't white, so worked well as a black tie/posh party dress.

It still fits. I am a size smaller now, but it is bias-cut.

Did no one else get married when they were pregnant ...? 5 1/2 months in my case.
So no, I haven't tried it on for fear it would still fit!

blue2711 · 03/09/2013 13:08

I got married eaten pregnant... but only ten weeks or so. I actually wore my wedding dress to a very formal funeral a few months ago... It's a gorgeous and very demure little black dress so fit the part well. Still fitted perfectly after 5 years and 2 DC so I was pleased. Didn't tell anyone at the funeral I was wearing my wedding dress though, although DH knew of course. I really love having a dress that I can re-wear.

Eaten pregnant?! I meant while pregnant of course. Wretched auto correct.
