Bras. I just bought some based on the intervention method and they don't fit.

What am I doing wrong?

Is it just certain brands you can buy under these rules?

I measured correctly as far as I can tell. I bought 6 bras, by Esprit, CK, that sort of thing in Fenwicks today, in a 30 or 32 band and various cup sizes, and not one of them fits.

I didn't try them on as I had the children all with me...so they are going back tomorrow.

Not cross but just asking - is it only certain brands that will fit if you do it this way? I have always bought 36B or C and they seem to fit alright, but have measured and found I'm a 30, and 30 doesn't fit.

Are you sure they didn't fit? They should feel tight-a lot tighter than you're probably used to-and you should lean forward and scoop all breast tissue into the cups.

in what way dont they fit? Is it the band size and/or cup size?

The cup sizes were a mixture - some were Ok, some just minuscule - I got a few as they were in the sale, and as I'm BFing I thought it'd be wrth getting various cup sizes for when they shrink again so that's not so much of an issue.

but the bands were just really really tight. Is that how it's meant to feel? It was really uncomfortable.

I measured 31 around under my boobs, and can't remember around the fullest part (leaning forward) but I know it was a FF when I worked it out (last week or two)

Should they leave red marks when you take them off....? According to the intervention method I am a 34D (used to wear 36b) but I have found I'm more comfy in a 36c..... I don't get "back fat" (and I don't mean boob I haven't scooped forward, I mean actual back fat that is being cheese wired by my 34d bra!) Help for me too please?!

I went from wearing 36/38s (probably a 40 in there too somewhere!) to a 32 - so yes, they will feel a LOT tighter! It's like going from a summer in flip-flops to laced-up tight new shoes :)

You DO get used to it - it's just a different feeling - it took me a couple of weeks before I didn't want to rip them off. Maybe don't wear them all day until you're more used to them?

Gosh, but what is the point if it makes you feel like ripping them off?

I don't want to come across as a bra intervention doubter but I find it hard wearing bras anyway for that reason - I don't want to have something that tight on.

The point is that you get used to the new feeling, and they're tight for a reason - to support your boobs properly! Can you see a difference in your shape with the new bra on?

Have you tried 30G? When you worked out the FF if that was based on measuring 31 when you go down to 30 (and bear in mind some people need to go up instead) you may need to go up a cup size. I would try 30G and 32FF if you haven't?

Can you get to somewhere like Bravissimo, House of Fraser, Boux Avenue and be fitted properly?

I had hoped that I'd stay a 30 - whatever, when they shrink again? But does a big cup size mean a bigger band?

Actually I think my boobs looked a bit better, but that was in a D cup - and the band wouldn't go round. Gah.!

The C cup band didn't go anywhere near, the ends were waving at one another

So they still need to go back then. I need to source a 30G from somewhere, or something.

It didn't work for me either...was advised 32D. The cup was HUGE my breast tissue even with scooping and bending over filled about a quarter of it

Sadly we have got none of those shops here at all, only proper shops are independant dept store for old ladies and Fenwickios.

I will see what Fens have got in, full price, then save up if they fit

Try a 30 on backwards to see if the band fits, it's probably the cups stealing fabric from the band as the cup size is Way too small. If you measured at FF, a C is 5 cup sizes too small, no wonder it wouldn't do up.

Oh Okay - so, there is the band, which is 30 - right? Then they add in the cups, and they make these part of the band so that makes the band longer? Oh!

but then, when I have no longer got big bazongas, and I'm not bFing any more, won't my band size still be the same?

I mean surely I'll still be the same round underneath the boob area? Or does that shrink with the boobs?

I got new ones today and the 36DD fit great but the 38 D had loads of room in the cup bit so you need to try a few variations I think
ps Never thought I was a DD and certainly wasn't before breast feeding

You need to take the measurements with a pinch of salt. I measure 29-30 under bust (on a fat day 31) but all my bras are a 32 ( used to be 34.) I wear a 32D but every bra is different- some makes are really small (Elle McPherson for one) and some big (John Lewis own, IME).
It's best to stick to one brand and find your size in that ( though designs of bra make a difference) rather than randomly grabbing lots of makes and sizes.

I imagine that brands do vary much like dress sizes etc. It was worth trying a few though - they were all down from about £50 odd to £9 a bra so I got 6.

I'll see what else is there tomorrow, I know there weren't any FF or G though as I looked.

rooners your band size will still (probably) be the same but your cup size will decrease so the cups will feel less full (baggy) so you will probably need to buy new ones.

A too small cup means more breast tissue is squeezed out to where the band sits (that should be inside the cup) so it makes the band too tight.

Oh I get it now. That does make sense. I'll try them backwards in a bit and see if it makes a difference.

Another tip- if you want to buy without trying....buy 3 of the same bra in 3 sizes- eg I might order/ buy a 32C, 32D and 32DD, or 30DD, if I don't 'know' the brand or how they fit.

That way you are more likely to get one that fits.
