I need new boots for Autumn...what's going to be 'in'?

I had brown riding boots for a couple of years that died last year, and my black biker style boots also bit the dirt last winter.

I need new boots, but I know the long boots and tucked in jeans thing is a bit old now..just wondered what people will be wearing boot-wise this autumn?

I think I fancy something a bit girlier than bikers or riding boots, but they need to be practical for all the school run walking I do.

Any ideas?

I was just about to start a thread asking the same question!

Last year I didn't wear long boots at all - they suddenly felt really frumpy, but there are still a lot in the shops so maybe they are still OK.....I dunno. I quite fancy a riding boot style.

tryasimight · 23/08/2013 23:04

I know exactly what you mean cointreau...I felt like I was wearing long boots with jeans past the overkill point. Don't think I'd do it this year...I'm wondering if calf length would be better as I'm not too keen on ankle boots..

Interesting. I didn't wear long boots last year either. I have many lovely pairs of them (yes, many) but I suppose I didn't want them to get ruined by the weather.

I wore my Ash biker boots and Jimmy-Choo-got-them-on-eBay slouchy boots to pieces.

Have tried to replace the Ash ones with some similar Caterpillar ones that I just don't think are going to cut it. So I somehow reckon I'll be sticking with and repairing the Ash bikers.

slenderman · 23/08/2013 23:10

boot shoe things are everywhere

InMyShreddies · 23/08/2013 23:12

I think bikers / mid calf looks suddenly very dated - and cheap. Shame as it's my favourite and easily to wear! I think it has to be ankle again this year, Zara have lots of goodies already as do Clarks. Flat or heeled - I think Ash lookalikeys look so insouciant, which is always the aim - to look like no effort has been made Hmm even if every item of clothing I own has been thrown around my room before settling on an outfit

I'll still wear my riding boots with short jumper dresses and opaques though, they just look so sleek I can't not.

sharonfagan1991 · 23/08/2013 23:14

I still wear my riding boots I bought two years ago and love them perfect for winter.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/08/2013 23:18

I like Chelsea boots.

tryasimight · 24/08/2013 08:48

I may get some riding boots again to wear with skirts...I can't bear ankle boots with skirts in deep winter - too cold!

So are mid calf out then? :-(

tryasimight · 24/08/2013 10:35

I don't know Mairzy :( I really like these

Those Clarks ones are really nice, try. Next had some similar and cheaper that I was thinking of (these) - the black pair had a bad review but having had Next Chelsea boots before that lasted for ages, I think that bad review was a one.

Can anyone recommend good riding or knee-high boots for a short arse, if mid-calf boots are out? I had a great pair from Clarks that have lasted a few years that I wear too and from work (lots of walking) as I wear skirts and dresses, but I think they're due a replacement.

tryasimight · 24/08/2013 17:02

Thanks Turlow, now I'm torn between the Clarks ones and the Next ones..

TwoPeasOnePod · 24/08/2013 19:02

Fly 'Ska' ankle/Chelsea boots in off-white. Leather, comfy, gorgeous, hard-wearing and got loads of compliments. Plus havent seen anyone else wearing them which is a big plus to me

tryasimight · 25/08/2013 12:47

THanks finlaysmum, those boots are out of stock atm Angry or I would have used the code.

Oooh following - my mid calf bikers have just died and I loved them so much

MairzyDoats · 25/08/2013 13:14

Oh bugger, I really liked the Clarks ones Euphemia posted but they're out of stock in all sizes! Pish.

Thurlow · 25/08/2013 13:24

I actually have two pairs of these Ebay Buy It Now £20 boots and they are surprisingly comfy. Obviously they aren't as well made as Clarks but they're not that bad. I have them in black and brown to wear with jeans casually, so when they aren't getting as much of a hammering as walking too and from work all the time.

I recently bought these

www.clarks.co.uk/p/20355406

Very comfy, unlike a lot of the other clarks boots I tried on.

FauxFox · 25/08/2013 19:08

i'm 35, am i too old for these? I heart them so much!

Thurlow · 25/08/2013 19:50
