To gilet or not to gilet

Sorry!

But, its that time of year when my annual quest for a faux fur/shearling gilet begins.

It is greatly hampered by the fact I am 5ft and so can appear womble like if there is too much bulk and all the ones I like are £££

this is the type of thing I'd like but its too expensive.

So has anyone seen any recently that may fit the bill? thanks!

while you're there - can you please explain why a gilet and not a jacket or a coat? Never been quite sure of what the point of them is Confused
thanks

MrsCampbellBlack · 21/08/2013 09:18

Gilets are good for layering and very good if your house is cold. I also like having my arms not so constricted.

They have the grey in a 4 and a 6, and the brown in 6 and 10.

Did you want an 8?

LadyMilfordHaven · 21/08/2013 09:21

turn the heating on?

Annianni · 21/08/2013 09:22

I have an ancient woolly slouchy gilet that I wear in the house when it's cold, or layered under coats.

They're fab.

I nabbed this total bargainous one while in the US last Easter: it was $43! However, I've yet to actually wear it, and am a bit scared of how to style it come autumn...

missmartha · 21/08/2013 12:32

They make me look like my top half has been inflated with a bicycle pump.

I have seen them looking gorgeous on others though.

JohnSnowsTie · 21/08/2013 12:32

Can I just say - I LOVE a gilet.

AmberNectarine · 21/08/2013 13:00

I've got a Michael Kors one (same one as Wendy) that I really haven't worn enough. I quite like them over a biker jacket.

thebirdsandbees · 21/08/2013 13:39

I've never worn a gilet but would like to give wearing one this a/w a go. What colour would suit a soft, warm summer best?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/08/2013 13:51

Bloody hell - since when did a pair of Clarks shoes cost a hundred quid?!!!!

DD1 has a v cheapo fake fur thing that I sometimes borrow to layer under a biker jacket. Generally though, I think that gilets and boobs are not a great combination, and a lot of the ones around have too many Chewbacca overtones for my liking. Having said that Mrs CB, you are tiny enough for that not to be an issue.
