I'm 5ft11", size 12/14 (more on the 14 side now).
Find LTS a bit 'old' and staid. Is there anywhere else to look online for stuff that doesn't cost the earth or am I asking just too much? My fingers are crossed!

don't know about online but dotty perkins do a tall range as do next i think( certainly long length trousers).i find lands end ok for basic long length swimsuits.
i'm also 5'11" and most of my length is in my body so while i can get away with normal long length trousers from m and s or whatever i find buying jackets and shirts and dresses and nightmare!

wishfulthinking · 14/06/2006 16:12

My inside leg is 34"! Although some of the Next stuff is long enough. Buying anything is a nightmare especially as money and time are at a premium. There always seems to be plenty in for petits but the tall sections in Dotty P's/Top Shop etc are sooooo small. Boo-hoo...

wishfulthinking · 14/06/2006 16:19

Well, that's a start AM! If you could just stretch the search to the over garments that would be just swell! I'm off home now so will log on later to check on progress.......no pressure there then!!! Grin

M&S for a lot of my wardrobe, especially jeans.

wishfulthinking · 14/06/2006 16:27

wishfulthinking · 14/06/2006 19:49

US - I'm 7 1/2 to 8 depending on the width really. Don't get me started on shoes! I'll give the LTS site another try though - thanks.

Hi Wishfulthinking, I'm not quite as tall as you but I would recommend Mango (you can now buy on-line) and French Connection for good trouser lengths.

themoon66 · 15/06/2006 00:23

wishful - i'm 5ft8in but my inside leg is 34/35 inches. Trousers are a nightmare and I only buy jeans from Gap or, on rare occasions, TKMaxx. LTS tops i buy when the on-line sale is going. Topshop say they do tall trousers, but they are crap. They make em long in the leg, but the rise is petit, so you sit down and the back disappears under your arse, showing all your knickers. Rubbish cut.

chonky · 15/06/2006 06:17

I only have a dress from Top Shop Tall Range, as the thought of trying to squeeze my backside into 'any' of Top Shop's trousers make me shudder!
Gap are great for jeans, I'm 5'11" with 34 1/2" legs and I still need to get their trousers taken up :).
H&M & Kew (sister company of Jigsaw), also have some clothes that are decent lengths.

wishfulthinking · 15/06/2006 08:13

TheMoon66 - know what you mean about the cut. I think these people who make longer lengths don't realise that it's all over length and not just the leg area! Will try the online shops and Mango too. I know I sound like I'm putting obsticles in the way but cost is key for me at the moment. It seems there's always plenty of sale stuff available to 'normal' and petit but can someone point me in the direction of reduced for us lengthenby's (sp?)......that's right - there aren't any Angry

Is it worth trying ebay?

OP posts:
jenkel · 15/06/2006 08:38

Fat Face do trousers that fit me well, I'm 5ft11 size 16-18.

Whats French Connection sizes like, I'm a 16 at Next, are they generous or not?

wishfulthinking · 15/06/2006 08:51

I'm not sure about French Connection sizings - I assumed they didn't do longer lengths. I'll check out Fat Face....online?

themoon66 · 15/06/2006 09:58

Wishfulthinking.... I occasionally find TKMaxx has long jeans and trousers, and they are very low cost. When you go in the shop it looks a bit huge and daunting, but I've got shopping there down to a fine art.

Find the rail of trousers/jeans with your size and simply go along looking at the bottoms and pick out all the ones that hang lower than the rest (long legs). Try on all of em. Even the unlikely looking ones, as you may be suprised how much better they look on you, rather than the hanger. I've had some of my best bargins from there.

wishfulthinking · 15/06/2006 10:32

Thank you - I will....I'm even going to try today when I do the bank/lunch run Grin! The word bargain makes me smile and cross my fingers too!

ok while we are on this subject-anyone got any ideas about places to buy size 9 shoes?

tallmummy · 15/06/2006 10:40

Aha a subject I am expert in - am 6ft2" and have been since age 13. Size 14 with size 10 feet.
37" inside leg. Mostly shop at Dotty P's, good jeans and combats at topshop. Tall girls good for jeans and shoe/boots. Evans do shoes up to a 10 but tend to be quite wide fitting, also no good for boots if your legs are thin.

Bought some lovely white linen trews at LTS, but find most of their trousers too short. They seem to have a penchant for loud floral fabrics and acrylic suits at LTS - bleurgh.

themoon66 · 15/06/2006 10:51

Agree with tallmummy about LTS and their penchant for man-made fibres. They sell too many 'dry-clean-only' items as well. I also think they are very expensive for what they are, ie; cheap fabric, poor stitching in a lot of cases. Hence I only buy from them if there's a sale on, when the clothes drop to the price that they are actually worth.

gegs73 · 15/06/2006 10:59

NEXT do the majority of theirs shoes online in a size 9 mail order. You can send them back for free if they don't fit or you don't like them www.next.co.uk

Also Faith have started selling shoes in a size 9 too, again via their website with free returns. www.faith.co.uk/CategoryList.aspx?cid=14&language=en-GB You need to hover over the shoe you like and it will tell you if they do them in a 9.

Barratts do size 9s and bigger too I think, though whenever I have gone in there has never been much choice.

Thank goodness for the internet I say! Used to spend hours shopping for shoes trying to find something I could fit my large foot into Sad

Sherbert37 · 15/06/2006 11:01

Shoes again. Fear we are going to have a problem as DD is just 11 but in a very narrow size 8. Any ideas for narrow but big shoes? She also has problems with trouser length v. small waist size. Age 13 length but only 22" waist (keep telling her she's lucky, but she's fed up with baggy trousers). Am pinning hopes on M&S schoolwear which now has eleastic waist in some styles.
