best supermarket jeans?

I realise that there may be no such thing, but I need some jeans for the start of autumn that fit. Have a six week old baby and I just can't fit into my pre pregnancy jeans at all Sad. So I'm looking for something cheap to wear until such a time that I will (hopefully!) get back into them.

So which supermarkets - or other places - should I try? Are there any particular types that you would recommend? If I can order online so much the better. we have tesco asda and a v small sainsbury around here.

Dorothy Perkins are pretty good, I got some £10 in the sale jeans and they fit great!

GoingVerySlowlyMad · 10/08/2013 14:51

I swore by new look ones. £9.99 and they have a bit of stretch in them, they aren't going to win style awards but they looked smart and tided me over until I could get back into my pre-pregnancy ones.

itsnothingoriginal · 10/08/2013 17:01

Agree about DP jeans - just got some in sale for £7 so might be worth a try!

Tesco jeans are ok too - I wore my £10 slim fit ones most of last winter Smile

i LOVE sainsburys jeans. I have a few pairs and they are great

BikeRunSki · 10/08/2013 18:20

I bought some Sainsbury jeans and loved them to start with, but they have quite a a high content if polyester and after about a month they went very soft and baggy, and the fabric went fluffy. Abd the zip broke.

I bought a pair of New Look jeans in the sale for a tenner about 8 years ago, and I still wear them all these years later! I guess you won't need yours 8 years down the line having lost the baby weight but at least you can sell them on eBay when you are done. IMHO New Look do the best cheap-o jeans.

shelley72 · 10/08/2013 19:19

rainbowbob you never know! have not lost A THING so far so goodness knows how long it will take me to get the weight off. i will check out new look and DP online and then prepare myself for the joy that is our local tescos Shock

M and S five pocket jeggings are amazing and only £20. They're jeans, not leggings, and are so stretchy and comfortable but look great too. Look at the reviews on their website.

paperclipsarebetterthanstaples · 10/08/2013 19:41

Asda hold in tummy jeans are fantastic - really high wasted and straight legged. £18 and loads better than the Next ones I spent £45 on!

littlemisswise · 10/08/2013 19:48

Primark Supersoft Skinny jeans are fab too. Just ignore what the size says on the label, try loads on and buy the pair that fit. I have to go up one size, some people go up two. Mine were £7 a pair, I bought them in different colours.

I, also, like Newlook supersoft skinny jeans too.

shelley72 · 10/08/2013 20:45

Hadn't thought about jeggings. The ones from m&s are they the pair that has 2,000 odd reviews? Do they hold your tummy in a bit? Still having problems with scar from the birth so need something that doesn't dig or rub ideally. Like the idea of them though in the indigo colour.

If you are wanting high waist, so as not to rub your scar these Asda wonderfit jeans are good and they are really, really stretchy.

KeepTheFaithBaby · 10/08/2013 21:15

I have a 17 week old and had the same issue. I've been to Asda and bought some jean like trousers but with an elasticated waist Blush they look smarter than the joggers I relied on but are comfy!

Nadalsballs · 10/08/2013 21:37

They so hold you in as they're high waisted. Yes they have thousands of reviews and are great. I didn't like the indigo, the medium wash ones are the best IMO.

SoYo · 10/08/2013 21:45

I have a 23 week old and am now a big fan of the primark jeans. Initially I had them 2 sizes bigger than normal and now I'm down to one size bigger but as they're only £8 I don't mind and I'm still wearing the massive ones with DHs belt for walking the dog

HaveAGoodDay · 10/08/2013 21:59

Sainsburys jeggings are my favourite £12.50. I live in mine. They are so comfy on. Keep a look out for the 25% off, should be happening anytime soon, before kids go back to school!

snickersnacker · 11/08/2013 00:20

Got Wan for Sainsburys skinny jeans are brilliant - just enough stretch to hold you in and keep their shape.

snickersnacker · 11/08/2013 00:21

Oops, Gok Wan.

mysteryfairy · 11/08/2013 07:53

I bought some jeans in the Mint Velvet sale for £19. The original price was £59 and I think this is reflected a bit in the quality I.e. they do feel a bit more substantial than supermarket jeans.

mint velvet sale stock

Sorry cant work out a way of filtering the link by type but I got the grey ankle zip jeans. They keep updating the stock with returns etc so worth keeping an eye on it if you think they might do.

shelley72 · 11/08/2013 08:00

Can't get to primark soon, but will add those to the list the next time I'm near one. £8 is a bargain! Have never seen anything by gok in Sainsbury but then ours is quite small.

So these asda jeans, how forgiving are they? Bearing in mind I think I'm carrying my baby weight on my hips and thighs could be cake though? They seem to do dual sizes 8-12 and 14-16. I think I'm somewhere between a 12 and 14 but definitely not near an 8 or 16. Which one should I go for?

I love the Peacocks skinnies. About £12 and don't go baggy Smile

mrsblakey · 11/08/2013 15:53

primark super skinnies for me
i am curvacious with an ample bum & they fit me well !

Yonihadtoask · 11/08/2013 15:55

I rate New Look for jeans. They are often on a deal - like 2 pairs for £20 .

Even my old fogey of a DH got some for himself in there.

They last quite well too.

littlemisswise · 11/08/2013 15:59

In the Asda wonderfit jeans, I am a 10 and wear the 8-12. If you are between a 12-14 I'd probably say the 14-16 to start off with, but in all honesty probably not to bother because they do stretch and they will annoy you doing that mad falling down thing once you've worn them a few hours.

littlemisswise · 11/08/2013 16:04

Primark jeans online at Asos.
