I was in gap today.

They had some linen summer dresses which looked quite nice and some t shirt/jersey type ones which looked yuk.

TwinsetandPearls · 12/06/2006 22:37

I think it is the jersey ones that people are raving about.

TwinsetandPearls · 12/06/2006 22:40

Gap's summer collection includes Eighties-inspired drop-waisted jersey dresses in zingy colours, such as coral-pink and orange, and Vanessa Bruno has similarly retro styles.

from the Telegraph

Cod · 12/06/2006 22:41

yes the jerseyones and hte sundresses

OP posts:
puff · 12/06/2006 22:53

liked the sundresses - buttons down the back though - bit of a faff

Feistybird · 12/06/2006 22:55

link??

Feistybird · 12/06/2006 22:55

ah...just saw the words 'not on website' as I pressed Post Message....

bubble99 · 12/06/2006 22:57

I'm staggered to be able to say that I have read this hype too, cod. Me not being known for a natural 'style' thread botherer. £35 and yes, they are supposed to be the DB.

pickle100 · 13/06/2006 08:15

Had a look and not for me. There are some linen shirt dresses with no belt which are nice (navy and green I think) but the rest is a bit mad IMO with mostly short pinafore dresses. I am probably just a bit past it but pinafore dresses remind me of either school or particularly nasty maternity wear ! Wear if you are young and lovely but I am mid thirties so not for me !

MrsBadger · 13/06/2006 09:04

really?

saw lots of slavering in the papers about the pinafore-type dress with the buttoned back and quite fancied it - dresses v good for work in this weather and I only have one at the mo.
Is it as nice as the \link{http://www.fatface.com/bin/venda?ex=co_wizr-productgrid&bsref=fatface&step=shopcartmulti&invt=13801&ordercol=alphanu&layout=productdetail\Fat Face one}?

is the eighties really a decade you wish to emulate cod??? remember what they say...if you wore it last time around......Wink

puff · 13/06/2006 09:43

the jersey ones are a no no for generous norks I think as there is lots of draping in the boob area

Piffle · 13/06/2006 09:51

drop waisted, yes particularly famous for not flattering them what have had kiddies
Jersey, famous for showing every bulge and clinging to it to advertise to the world HERE I AM
Shall be avoiding gap as have not heard what they are like for big norks but truly fear the worst...

foxinsocks · 13/06/2006 09:53

I was in there yesterday and didn't even notice them Shock - perhaps they are not in store yet (though I tend to agree with piffle - drop waisted def doesn't flatter many shapes!)

tallmummy · 13/06/2006 10:05

Have just looked on river island website - they've got some 80's inspired stuff - the shirt dresses on the last page are the nicest but some are gopping!

Cod · 13/06/2006 11:36

any news on the buttoned pinny?

NomDePlume · 13/06/2006 12:22

They wwre raving about jersery Gap ones on Radio1 about 10 mins ago. The description sounded a bit bizarre. Something about black ties on shoulders, all bright coral pink but with a wide fuschia hem Shock. Sounds fecking hideous
