I'm desperately trying to give up the straighteners cos I know it's not doing my fine wavy hair any good..but neither is this weather! I just cannot control it and it makes me feel so scruffy and self conscious! Any tips? Frizz ease is useless as are most products. I'm not very adapt at drying my hair plus I've read that heat is the worse thing..I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DOOOOOO! Please stop me from looking like a dandelion.

I'm afraid I can't help you, but wanted to say I'm sorry you have hair trouble.
I hope someone wise will come along soon.

good luckSmile

You could try letting it dry naturally with it tied half up - or would that be inviting disaster? Works well for me and can let it down when dry without too much of a bump where the clip was. I've got a (reasonable amount of) fine flyaway frizz prone hair. My best hair is with BBH but it involves heat obviously!
I'm sure someone will suggest something proper/miracle product soon...

I know your pain. I too have big hair in humid conditions...
You need to make sure it is completely dry when you blow dry it, but I'm not sure what you can do to prevent frizz at all times. I've taken to tying mine back in a nice sleek ponytail when it's really bad. I've got some kind of serum that takes the worst of the volume out, but makes it look a bit greasy.

Hello Prima, get yourself along to British Curlies and your problems will be solved. ( Just type British Curlies into Dr. Google ).

CeeceeBloomingdale · 31/07/2013 23:05

I also have Monica hair but as it's curently going grey I can't ditch the straighteners as well. Mine is thick and course so probably behaves differently. I've ditched products and try to let it dry naturally a bit before just finishing off with the dryer. Mainly in humidity it's tied back.

Primadonnagirl · 31/07/2013 23:20

Thank you for your responses! If I let it dry naturally in a pony tail I just look like Waynetta ! Going to try Dr Curlies though..I'm on holiday at the moment and forgot to pack hair straighteners so even worse..although I do need it stop using them.... I think a hat or a haircut is the only answer ..but I feel so unfeminine with short hair...

Would you try something like matrix opti smooth? Google it. Wonder stuff. There's a hot and cold version if you don't want poker straight.

Lurleene · 31/07/2013 23:23

At least you don't look like Monica did when Phoebe cut her hair and confused Monica's request for Demi Moore's hair with Dudley Moore's.

Rummikub · 31/07/2013 23:24

My hair is scary and frizzy. I started using argon oil or coconut oil when washing hair and now, hurrah, my hair is much less scary. It's still not perfect but much better than using frizz ease.

Hopasholic · 01/08/2013 12:32

Have a read of this thread. I'm on holiday at the mo with no Monica frizz in sight!

A bit of (in my case Morrocan) oil helps mine a bit.

Havingkittens · 01/08/2013 22:36

I just posted on the "Curl Whisperers" thread. I have exactly the same issue but now no time to blow dry as I have a 3 month old. Aveda Be Curly is great. Oh, and I find Phyto Keratine Reperative shampoo has also helped a lot, along with a body building conditioner like Philip Kingsley or Kheil's Olive Fruit Oil Conditioner.

Passthecake30 · 01/08/2013 22:54

Don't wash it as often? Sort of helps for me

DrinaDancesInParis · 02/08/2013 11:34

I feel your pain! If this were 1987 we would be so on trend Smile

I know you said products don't work but will just throw some suggestions down anyway: Argan oil helps, also Lush Henna and Jasmine Fluff-Eaze mask. I've always had better results using leave-in conditioner rather than wash out, cream not spray versions.

My hairdresser told me to blowdry the hair underneath first so it is bone dry, then work through to the top in sections (I know, not always time, but it does help when I do it like that!) Also to use the fastest but coolest setting on the hairdryer. If there's no time to blowdry, he told me to twist big handfuls of it and pin to my head. That (usually) makes it dry in big curls that are not frizzy.

Having said all that, this week I've mostly been using my vast collection of headscarves!

Primadonnagirl · 02/08/2013 11:56

Thanks Drina I'm definitely going to try all your suggestions. I don't necessarily want straight hair..curly would be fine.but today it's hot and humid and I look like I've stood in a bucket of water and stuck a fork in the toaster!
