i quite like but every time I see someone in one (or any cowboy hat) I always think what an arsehole they look

How can I reconcile these two feelings?

Hmmmmm.. bought dh a very cool Akubra which is entirely in keeping with portions of his job which involve striding up mountains in Kurdistan, inspecting livestock and irrigation systems (sooooo manly, swoon)
He won't wear it because he has a secret fear that a PKK sniper will think 'American devil' and shoot him.

Hats like this are fine in context but deffo wankerish in suburban Britain.
Anyhow,if yuo want to,go for it.
Am currently sporting large batik floppy number, such is my fear of looking like a cat's arse in ten years.
I may look an arse but who cares??

moondog · 09/06/2006 19:35

That's nice.
Accessorize have some fab hats-it's where i got mine.

YellowFeathers · 09/06/2006 19:35

It really really really does depend on what your going to wear it with.

Certain outfits will make it dead easy to carry it off, others not.

But FWIW, that hat is really nice and doesn't scream Cowboy hat like others I've seen anyway.

CountessDracula · 09/06/2006 19:36

No was only thinking of it for holiday. I wouldn't dream of wearing here. They always seem to be worn here by total arseholes

BUT all the same I really need a holiday hat and I keep coming back to this. I hate prissy little girl hats at least it's not that....

moondog · 09/06/2006 19:37

100% fine for hols. CD
Wear with confidence. Smile

CountessDracula · 09/06/2006 19:37

ooh yes

Tell him to wear crap footwear, I remember hearing that the PKK only grab you if you have decent shoes on.

AND they make you eat RAW HEDGEHOG
yum....

Puts me in mind of line dancing.
And only Thelma and Louise could make that look good, (although maybe you could get away with a hat like this at the beach or by the pool?) Smile

CountessDracula · 09/06/2006 19:37

Will be wearing with denim skirt/top or linen

OP posts:
moondog · 09/06/2006 19:38

lol
will do

CountessDracula · 09/06/2006 19:38

do you think they pluck the spines out first?

OP posts:
Cod · 09/06/2006 19:42

i agree cd

moondog · 09/06/2006 19:46

I didn't know about hedgehog thing. Will ask a friendly Kurd.
Would have thought more likely to be tortoises, they are everywhere.
Gypsies used to wrap them in mud and put them in the embers, then peel off the mud and the spines came with it.

From holiday wear to methouds of cooking hedgehogs.
Only on MN eh?

Headwear is easy in Van.Headscarf, headscarf or headscarf.

CountessDracula · 09/06/2006 19:47

Hmm not really me!

If i get the cowboy hat I will be reviled by people like me though

Is that good or bad I wonder Grin

OP posts:
Cod · 09/06/2006 19:47

you ve bene in isolated trueky too long

foxinsocks · 09/06/2006 19:48

not if you don't get it out here

are you holidaying abroad? you'll be incognito and can hide the hat when you get back Grin

CountessDracula · 09/06/2006 19:54

Yes but I might like it and be tempted to wear it here.

OH GOD

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 09/06/2006 19:55

have you ruled out all other hats?

CountessDracula · 09/06/2006 19:58

If you can find another one I like I would be grateful

I hate things like \link{http://www.marksandspencer.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=3889&Product_Id=1920983\this} and \link{http://www.marksandspencer.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=3889&Product_Id=1941514\this} or \link{http://www.marksandspencer.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=3889&Product_Id=1997120\this} or \link{http://www.marksandspencer.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=3889&Product_Id=1920981\this}

\link{http://www.marksandspencer.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=3889&Product_Id=1920979\this isn't TOO bad but would give me a pinhead}

quite like the santa rose denim floppy one on the accessorize site

WHY do clothes companies have Flash sites you can't link to ?????

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 09/06/2006 20:09

I was just looking at that one - wasn't sure if it was too girly?

I went into M&S the other day and ended up trying on hats in the men's department. They've got some quite nice plain hats in the men's bit.

foxinsocks · 09/06/2006 20:10

actually, don't think I was looking at that one (wrong description)

CountessDracula · 09/06/2006 20:11

I don't mind girlyness per se but hats can look so prim, I just don't want to look prim and prissy

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 09/06/2006 20:11

it is floppy denim and has a thing round it

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 09/06/2006 20:21

can you link to it

I thought at first you meant this \link{http://store.monsoon.co.uk/catalog/Welcome?catid=3\one}
