My favourite salon has closed (Cox McMillan in Battersea) and I desperately need a cut.

I follow the curly girl method and have botticelli/loose corkscrew curls with some waves. Fairly fine.

Any recommendations?

I just want to say a big thank you to everyone on this thread. I tried Jay a few months ago and she did an amazing job. Recently I wanted an updo for big event from my husbands work and but we moved out a little too far to call Jay but she said if I had another 2 people that needed haircuts or styling that it was worth her coming all the way out to me.

I am never changed hairdressers again so a friend from work who wanted to try her, along with 2 cousins who were joining us at the event came to my house for wine and pampering :) . She came over with her colleague as there were 4 of us and 3 of us got a trim as well as these amazing curly updo hairstyles that I could have never done myself.

I am mixed, and one of my other friends is very curly haired but the other two started with these soft waves. They did such a jaw dropping number in front of us it was insane. My cousin with waves ended up with natural huge body curls. These two women are going to change the hair scene, look out for them. I will leave number below for anyone who is interested.

Having read this forum topic, I gave Jay a call & she came & cut both mine & my sisters hair a fortnight ago. Amazing hairdresser & lovely person. My hair took 1hr 45 mins & my sisters 3 hours. She also took the time to teach me how to use the products I had & how to style my hair properly to eliminate frizz. She then recommended cheaper hair products that are the same formulation. I can't recommend her enough.

Has anyone got any updates about the hairdressers mentioned in this thread?

fruitlovingmonkey · 19/10/2015 07:28

I would also love to know.

Endeena89 · 03/11/2015 11:47

Can anyone let me know how to contact Jay?
Tried her number but it's always engaged?

Thudercatsrule · 05/11/2015 14:13

Does Jay have a salon? I'm in Essex, so prob to far for get travel.

MamaLazarou · 05/11/2015 19:18

Go to Sandra Webb in Clapham (by the common) and ask for Florence, she is totally at one with curly hair and very reasonably priced, too!

I've been going through Michael at Unruly Curls for 8 or 9 years and he's a great cutter. Not the chattiest sometimes but someone who can cut that well gets cut some slack in my book. There are two other cutters at the studio who haven't cut my hair but I've seen them work and they're good -Grace and Emma.

Jay sent me the link to her website for those who are interested?

www.thecurlyway.co.uk/

I'll report back when I have had mine done :)

SophieLion · 09/11/2015 19:18

Jay and Yuliana sound fab. I'm
Very jealous as I live overseas and I don't think there would be any hairdressers here following the curly girl method Sad The way is dead straight and dyed blonde here....

It must be so nice to actually love your hair! I am so fed up with mine. I just end up wearing it up all the time which begs the question of why not chop it all off....

SophieLion · 09/11/2015 19:19

And thanks for the link Titsywoo. I checked it out and emailed to see if they know any curly hairdressers here ( seriously doubt it though)

Had my appointment with Jay this morning. She was lovely and did an AMAZING job. Will add a pic in a sec as I need to go and find my phone. My hair is so beautifully curly now. She gave me some fantastic advice on what products to use and how to style my hair to prevent the dreaded frizz. She also showed me how to use a diffuser (pointing down not up Shock.

Anyway it was more than worth the money so I definitely recommend her to all those wanting a good curly hair cut. She said she is hoping to open a salon one day so that would be great.

Hi ladies. It's a long post but hopefully it'll be useful to some of you...!

I had my hair cut by Youliana (Jay's colleague) for the first time last week. It was the first cut I'd had in 9 months and was well worth the wait! I showed Youliana photos of what I wanted my hair to look like, inspired by looks from Instagram...

I didn't want to lose the length but needed the bulk taken out of my hair - which was causing it to look shapeless and weighed-down - and at the same time giving me much needed and craved volume. Following the birth of my baby girl, my hair texture has definitely changed and I'd lost a lot of it during breast feeding so I was concerned about my scalp being seen from the back and top of my head. Youliana cut my hair meticulously and exactly as I wanted it. It's not often with curly hair that you get exactly the right result as you expect!

I'm so happy and still beaming from my new hair cut 2 weeks on. The cut makes my hair feel light, I just love the shape and style and because it's not weighed down anymore, you can't see much of my scalp either. Result!!

Also, Youliana's homemade hair preparation is incredible. She uses this homemade blend to style the hair with which you have the option of buying if you want. I've never had such good results from one hair product, although I'm layering it with leave-in conditioner first and watered-down gel after Youliana's hair cream in this humid weather. Can't recommend these ladies enough!x
