Another former "A-cup" has been converted!

I finally clicked on one of the bra threads and was shocked to hear that there's only ever been one true A-cup on here.

I have always thought of myself as a 36A. But, I tried the measuring thing and got 35" X 38".

Could I really be a 34C??

Well, I tried one on at Asda, and it fit much better than I would have ever imagined. It was a little tighter than I'd like, but the cups were perfect. A 36C wasn't as smooth a fit. I didn't have time to try on other styles. But, when I get the chance, I am going to find a bra that is suitable in a 36C.

Ah yes, the Juna lace! It just doesn't lie very flat. Some people cut it off or tuck it in. Try tucking it in to get a better idea of the cup fit.

Which Freya is it? One of us should be able to tell you which other Freyas are the same shape.

Thanks, it was the Lauren.

The Lauren Plunge, Half Cup or Balcony?

Report
SorrelForbes · 02/08/2013 12:06

Sorry, posted too soon. The half cup is padded, the balcony isn't

starlingsintheslipstream · 02/08/2013 13:11

So confusing! It's not padded so must be the balcony.

Okay, I'm being brave and posting. Took the advice from the blog and measured 29.5" underneath and 36" around the fullest part. What range of sizes should I be trying? Many thanks in advance!

PixlePixie Try a 30E/F and a 28F/FF.

SorrelForbes thank you so much! I went bra shopping, they didn't have any 28 and only one style in 30DD, but I managed to get the best fitting bra I've had in years. And it was in the sale!
My mum has decided she's going to wait until she's lost weight before buying a new bra, but after talking to her it seems her best fitting bra at the moment is one that almost fits your advice.

So for DD1 - she is a 31 underneath and 39 around the fullest part. She is currently in a 32FF, but I think she needs a bigger cup and possibly a smaller back as her 32s are on the tightest setting.

DD2 is 26 underneath and 33 around. She is currently in a 32D which doesn't really fit - too small in the cup and too loose round the back, but I bought it because it is usually impossible to get small back sizes and large cups here in France, and this was as good as it was going to get. (DD1's bras came from UK.)

MrsS - dd1 could try 30G and possibly 30FF, dd2 ideally needs 26F or thereabouts but 26's aren't made so she'll need to try 28E and possibly F, perhaps with a Rixie clip to (google it) take the back in, or have it professionally altered, or do it yourself (not difficult with a sewing machine apparently). Brastop, Bravissimo, MyCurvesandMe etc are all online and stock from 28 upwards, delivery to France shouldn't be too bad, especialy with Brastop, they often have flash sales and postage discounts.

SorrelForbes thank you so much! Those sizes are so totally different to what I am wearing; this may well explain why I find bra shopping/wearing such a pain. Look forward to trying on those different sizes tomorrow and will report back.

So, today I braved going into bravissimo and getting fitted. I explained to the lady how I had recently measured myself and the size I thought I should be: a 30d. She said that they measured by looking and she thought the measurement was spot on!
She went off a got some styles. It was so nice to be fitted. I have never been fitted for a bra in my life!
She asked me where I got my current bras from and I hung my head in shame whilst whispering 'asda'
She wrote down the names of the ones that suited me as I didn't want to commit to buying there and then. It was only a tiny shop and I wanted some more of a range to try out. I'm so chuffed.
Thank you!

Hello again, please can you help I'm a bit confused! Thanks to someone on here recommending I try a 30DD I tried one today at TK Maxx, a Calvin Klein one, I was so suprised by the fit! It just felt a little tight round the middle so I tried a 32dd, different style as that's all they had, it fit better round the middle but due to the style the cups sagged a bit on top, sooo the only other shop in the area I could try another was Next & I'm afraid their size 32DD was totally different, just as I assumed in the beginning seemed to be for larger breasted ladies! I just wondered do some shops make them bigger than others? I did try it on but could have done with some stuffing!! Confused

there is always some varoance but a 32dd will have a bigger cup than a 30DD. a 30DD is equal to a 32D cup wise. I suspect you will need to try on more 30DD and 32D - Calvin klein run a but small in the back

Thank you! do you know which brands are a good fit? I've only really bought bras from Next & they didn't have much in the way of sizes today

Similar experience to bigbuttons today. Wow, just wow! The sizes that SorrelForbes gave me yesterday were completely spot on. I have HATED bra shopping for so many years and now I know why - I have been shopping for, and wearing, the wrong size. Would never have considered myself to be an E/F cup since I was previously wearing a 34B. I tried a few bras in my 'new' sizes (different brands/styles required ever-so-slightly different sizes, all within the range Sorrel suggested) they all fitted like a glove. Totally blown away - I'm a different shape to how I started off this morning! I wish I'd had the courage to do this a while ago when I first started reading these threads. Thanks ladies.

I can't find anything that looks remotely suitable for 12 year old DD2, apart from a sports bra. Everything seems to be either "plunge" or "balconette" - all she wants is something quite plain, or in a "fun" print and with no padding. The only plain bras look like something my mother would wear. Sad

Debenhams Gorgeous range have some nice plainish bras with floral prints which start at a 28D. They're not on their website anymore but you may find some in store in the sale racks.

It's a revelation! Since coming on here a few weeks ago I have gone from a hugely uncomfortable 34b to a fabulous 34dd/32e!!! Who'd of thought my little excuse for breasts would fit into bras that big! Thank you!!!

Another lurker plucking up the courage to post to get some bra help! I hate bra shopping, am very flat chested & have been measured "professionally" by M&S as 32A/AA but cups are never the right shape/size. Thanks to this thread I've learnt I definitely have shallow breasts, which probably explains why I've never had a bra that fits well! Anyway, I've just measured following your advice and I'm 31 underneath and 35 leaning over. Any suggestions for sizes to try and where to buy gratefully received, thanks!

SorrelForbes · 08/08/2013 22:34

Hello! Try a 30DD/D and a 31D/C. However, don't be surprised if you need to go bigger in the cup than a DD. I've a couple of friends who have shallow breasts and they needed bigger than they measured. One has exactly the same measurements as you and has a Cleo Juna in a 30FF!

Thank you for the quick response sorrelforbes, I'm off to google now! I've got a Bravissimo near me, do you think it's worth going for visit? I would never dreamed of going there before, with my AA measurements! I know it's been said before, but this thread has truly been a revelation!
