I bought a navy dress

All my shoes are black so I bought these red shoes and thought they'd go nicely. My friend said 'You're going to wear red shoes to work?! You're, err, brave! Aren't you worried people will think "red shoes, no knickers"?' Err no, I wasn't. I am a bit now though! So MN, what do you think? (I work in a corporate environment).

Of course! Go for it Smile

EricIsMine · 28/06/2013 23:44

I have three different pairs of red heels I wear to work... Go for it!

AintNobodyHereButUsKittens · 28/06/2013 23:44

I do, but I did have someone say "you know what they say about red shoes don't you?" to me.

I didn't as it happens, but I then googled. Sod it, they're great shoes and a really versatile colour.

FortyFacedFuckers · 28/06/2013 23:53

Love that dress and that's exactly the kind of shoes I would wear with it to work

IceNoSlice · 29/06/2013 06:43

Great, thank you! Grin

Yes, I wear red shoes to work very often. I had never heard of the say but who cares. Those shoes are lovely

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 29/06/2013 07:54

The shoes are nice but the bow makes them look a bit girly for a corporate environment IMO. I wouldn't worry about the red colour though.

Male or female?

AintNobodyHereButUsKittens · 29/06/2013 08:52

Male, 15 years my junior, at a Xmas party.

Nagoo · 29/06/2013 08:56

I know what they say.

Red shoes are AWESOME :)

DowntonTrout · 29/06/2013 08:57

DDs lovely lady consultant at GOSH was wearing fabulous red shoes like that at our first appointment.

I thought she was incredibly glamorous and stylish and was very taken with her look. Go for it!

Numberlock · 29/06/2013 08:59

I hope you challenged him...

IceNoSlice · 29/06/2013 09:00

You're all lovely Grin

gorgeous

Andcake · 29/06/2013 09:06

God yeah- so versatile - go with black and navy outfits. Not a week goes by at work without them. I have about 5 pairs (favourite red ballet pumps) with black trousers. I think dark dresses with dark shoes look a bit wpc. And I hate those nude shoes make people look like a Barrie doll with weird raised feet Grin

Andcake · 29/06/2013 09:07

Barbie doll obviously Grin

missbopeep · 29/06/2013 13:51

I think they are not business-like enough for work. Sorry. Maybe a deep red/ burgundy court without the bow- but the bow and the colour make them look very casual and a bit ' frippery'. I think they would elicit attention of not the kind you'd want. so sorry to disagree with others.

HappyAsEyeAm · 29/06/2013 13:59

I absolutely love those shoes! They are simply fabulous. If I could be sure of fitting my bunion into them, I would also buy them! Smile

breatheslowly · 29/06/2013 14:08

I had a client ask if I was going to wear red shoes to their office for the same reason as aint. I hadn't heard of it before.

perplexedpirate · 29/06/2013 14:12

I wore red shoes to work on Thursday. I had no idea anyone would think this! Blush

eurozammo · 29/06/2013 14:14

I have two pairs of red shoes that I wear for work. One female colleague ALWAYS rolled out the "red shoes, no knickers" thing. V tedious.

IceNoSlice · 29/06/2013 15:09

Andcake - what is wpc? Woman police officer?

OP posts:
AintNobodyHereButUsKittens · 29/06/2013 15:22

Woman Police Constable. No longer called that (since 1999) but still a useful shorthand for a certain type of shoe.

Trying2bMindful · 29/06/2013 15:25

I have worn red shoes to work but some people have commented "red shoes, no knickers..." So I'm reticent to wear them again as I work in a very corporate male dominated environment and so perhaps choosing red shoes is just a step too far....!
Depend where you work and how ballsy you feel. Go for it :)
