I will have to return these won't I? (Picture to view!)

Wore my new gladiator sandals today and the inner sole (which is supposed to be leather) has worn off by the toes and heels after just a few hours of wear. See picture on my profile. It is like spray on brown veneer over white. Would you return them? Trouble is I love them and already had compliments! Think they were £35 quid though.

I wouldn't return them as when they are on your feet that wouldn't be seen. Just my opinion though.

ellesabe · 31/05/2013 17:15

I wouldn't return them either. They're still gorgeous :)

MrsLettuce · 31/05/2013 17:20

I'd be emailing them with the photos and demanding a replacement or partial refund. No, you won't see it while they are being worn but it's not acceptable!

MrsLettuce · 31/05/2013 17:21

and, yes, they are lovely. I hate gladiators as a rule but those really are nice.

cardamomginger · 31/05/2013 18:48

Return.

HauntedArmchairOfDoom · 31/05/2013 18:54

i'd return them. They're gorgeous, but seriously, after a few hours' wear that's pretty shocking!

dyslexicdespot · 31/05/2013 18:55

I would return them.

desperateforaholiday · 31/05/2013 18:58

I would return them, they are nice though

WeAreSix · 31/05/2013 20:59

I would exchange them for another pair and hope its just a dodgy one off.

FrancesFarmer · 31/05/2013 22:22

I would return them because they will look awful without the brown colour. I would expect better from Clarks.

ClaraOswald · 31/05/2013 22:28

return them- that looks awful for less than a day's wear.

cerealqueen · 31/05/2013 22:35

Return them and get a new pair.

If same thing happens and you really love them ask get a cobbler to sew in a leather insole?

MrsMaryCooper · 01/06/2013 07:31

I would return. I'd expect them to look really shoddy really quickly if that is what one days wear looks like!

Dexidoo · 01/06/2013 07:35

I'd return them I've got them in tan (or v similar as they were last summer) and no wear on that area at all so I'd say they are faulty

Arcadia · 01/06/2013 09:13

Thanks all. Will exchange them and then see what happens to the next pair!

Arcadia · 01/06/2013 18:13

Disaster! I exchanged them this morning and they are already doing the same thing again. Hoped it was just a faulty pair that I had before.
Does anyone either know of something that I could buy to spray on to protect the surface, or know of a similar pair I can buy elsewhere [getting desperate]?

Go back and get a partial refund, keep the shoes, and colour it in with brown felt tip (only part joking, you want something like a Sharpie, that won't budge for love or money).

Arcadia · 01/06/2013 18:16

Do they do partial refunds and let you keep them? That is a good idea!

OP posts:
Arcadia · 01/06/2013 18:22

Or something like these? Says ideal for sandals but wouldn't they look funny at the front and sides unless you get them exactly the right shape and size and stick them down?

munchkinmaster · 01/06/2013 18:56

I think no one will notice. Chill.

If they give you some cash great but don't waste it on dodgy insoles

xTillyx · 01/06/2013 20:56

I think you should take the second pair back, I know it's a pain but I had some leather sandals with that kind of insole last year and I got them out for this year and they look quite new. This should not happen after such light wear.

Arcadia · 01/06/2013 20:57

Thanks sundaysimmons they look brilliant!

xTillyx · 01/06/2013 20:58

Forgot to say look on the Clarks website and see if anyone has reviewed them.

Arcadia · 01/06/2013 21:11

Thanks xTillyx I did that earlier and only saw positive reviews. Woman in shop said that had been no problems and had sold loads. Worried that I have particularly knarled and sweaty feet!
