Saturday night in London - overweight and middle aged, what to wear?

I'm going out in London this Saturday with some friends. I don't go out much in London, and when i do I'm usually in work clothes, so I've no idea what to wear. I'm size 16/18 and 37, definitely apple shaped. I'm getting my hair done in the afternoon, so hopefully that should look fab. What do people wear these days? My normal style is Boden/ Fat Face, but want to look smarter than that. I guess budget could do up to £150. I was wondering about jeans, nice top and heels. I have jeans, what nice top? Or if dress, what dress? It will be need to be available in a good sized town that has a John Lewis and Debenhams, but no House of Fraser, and I can get it at lunchtime tomorrow

Day and/or night? What will you be doing? Dinner and a bar? Pubbing and clubbing? Theater?

Sorry, day into night, getting my haircut and coloured at 3 and then meeting friends after that. Dinner somewhere, not booked anything, doubt we will, so not too smart, then nice bars. Won't be clubbing as need to get the train home at some point

PS can't believe I'm asking this, I used to be cool and live in Clapham, those were the days ........

I forgot to ask about your coloring and what colours you like to wear. Duh. Do you think you'd feel more you in jeans or in a dress? SHall have a gander.

Comfortable shoes if you are on your feet all day sightseeing/shopping etc.
I was going to suggest boden but see its your everyday style, just add a nice bag, scarf and sunglasses.

I love all those dresses, the last two are the kind of think I would buy and wear for work, I wasn't sure if they were too office-y for a night out

jeans and a blazer is a good way to go - don't try to look too 'dressed up',

I'd avoid wearing new shoes if you're going to be walking around a lot tbh. Could you wear some comfortable flats and take heels to change into? Also, judging by how much rain we've had, sandals might not be ideal! I'm being old and sensible here btw. :)

Oh hell yes, avoid new shoes if you can. Might be best to get some folding flats as back if you do go with new heels.
